I just noticed on the front page that Ideal Science is no longer on the bottom, but rather F5. Clicking on it will take you to the link. This is what i'm talking about.

Did i miss something, of did the hosting of the front page change, or something to that effect?

I've heard of F5 before, but I don't know why they would switch forum board technology. No that can't be a bug, that's definately a testing that leaked into the main forums--that or Archronos has already started changing things over. That means good news for everyone, because the site is about to get a major facelift. =D

Great find.

*EDIT*
* Alright, that makes perfect sense now. I actually went to the homepage instead of looking at the screenshot (always a bright idea), and for the moment it looks like they simply updated the news feature. Perhaps we'll see something more ubiquitous throughout Bungie.net in the future.

It's not that I know anything about this, but it just seems like the right thing to do.

I don't recall Ideal Science being at the bottom of the front page, since they provide the forums. The F5's been there for a while, I think.

Consult the bottom of this thread. The fourms are still powered by Ideal Sciences.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

I've never noticed the F5 there before. I always thought the whole page was supported by Ideal Science.

Err...blue shift. I like my screen as dark as possible. My background is black, and everything is black, if possible. I've got to find a way to make this bottom side-bar black, though i don't think it'll happen.

Back on subject...

Well, i don't know what banana's have to do with it, unless their really old and squishy, but i always remember seeing the ideal science logo on the bottom of the front page. Though i may be mistaken...although with all the news coming up recently, i've been on the front page alot, and only noticed it today.

Speaking of which, there is alot more news staying on the front page, which didn't happen before either. What's up with that?

The forum base software was written by Ideal Science, with extensive customization by myself. But that is just the forum software and the private messaging. Everything else (authentication, content system, groups, security, stats, etc.) was Bungie-developed.

The "Powered By F5" thing that you've seen recently is in reference to the company that provides us with dedicated load-balancing hardware (called "BigIP").

As for "a lot more news staying on the front page" - the system works as it did before, except now that KP is on board as a contract writer, there is a lot more content. Basically, there is just more news than there used to be. And I think we can all agree that's probably a good thing.

I think KP should get a hug from everyone.

I see. didn't realize that the ideal science was only the forums and pm system. Interesting.

So i guess that means that the news is only based on the amount of time its on the front page, not by how many news articles there are (as in before there wasn't so much news, so over time the older articles fell away, while now because there is a bunch of news they all stay because they are so recent). Cool.

Apparently the science wasn't ideal now was it? ;-)
