I just had an idea : instead of another spartan II have one of the newly trained spartans and have them be expendable not invincible of course they would still be tough.

I was under the impression that the books do follow the story line of the games. The Fall of Reach provides background filler for the first game, The Flood pretty much is the first game, and First Strike takes place imbetween Halo 1 and Halo 2. Maybe i'm mistaken?

i see what you mean, but i think that this would affect game play. johnston is now a main character and will remain that way. we should just believe that johnston got out of the halo, beofre it was blown up, thus the reason why he was not detected on the life scanner from cortana

I think that Johnson should remain a main charactor but not in game play i think Linda would fullfill this position better.

I think Johnston was great and all but realism was dampened with the invinsibility, now i think we should have Linda as a squad mate that covers your back from afar rather than helping you up close, seeing as shes a sniper and all. I think Michelle Rodriguez would fit the role perfectly. If you dont know who she is then Google her - shes the one in Lost and SWAT, she also did voice acting for Halo 2.
Sure she would have to be invinsible but she would be far off so would not take much fire anyway.
What are your thoughts/

First off, Linda is wouldn't talk that way.. That's just silly.

Secondly, that voice actor was already a marine, that would completely throw around the whole "realism" thing you're looking for..

Third, if the Spartans were in the game, I'd think they'd be doing some other mission, radioing in and communicating that way. (i.e. you're on the ground, Linda's in a ship blowing it up a few miles above you)

I think that Michelle Rodriguez would be good, she has a kinda tough voice and could adapt it to fit Lindas role, and as for realism they just have her as a Spartan and not a marine.

Besides the spartans are designed to work as a team.

MAybe the chief could fight alongside the arbiter in game play and rather than being invinsible he could be injured after taking too much damage.
