Halo2 and Halo3 had that one rifle that was a sensation. The Battle rifle, with its 3 shot burst deadly accuracy and astonishingly fast shield dropping fire, its no wonder it became a very popular weapon. In Halo Reach they switched things up (in order to stick with the halo universe story), instead of having a 3 shot burst weapon, they have DMR's. Now this was a very good implement, because in the halo universe story, BR's had not been available during the fall of reach.
anyways back on topic, the DMR is similar to the BR in aspects of range and lethality. Except the DMR has a semi (firing rate limit) automatic rifle that is the same if not better accuracy than the BR.
Well you know all this, but here is my point, which do you prefer? Answering this, you can identify what rifle you would like to be in Halo4. Now here is the pudding (yes i said pudding). Before you even answer the question, ask yourself this. Would you want a traditional rifle weapon like the BR, or DMR to make a come back appearance in Halo4, or would you like to see a new rifle to emerge.
Now for me, i would like for all three weapons to be put into the halo4 game, DMR, BR, and a new rifle weapon. Why? well, think about it, if the game developers integrated more than one type of weapon for each type of weapon, the variety of weapon usage will help produce more individuality in the gaming style. For an example, a DMR is more suitable at a range from medium to far, while the BR is suited for a range from short to medium.
Overall the point is, Halo4 should input the weapons from halo reach, halo 2, and halo 3. Covenant rifle would include the carbine, the needle rifle, and a new covenant rifle, and of course the humans would have the BR, DMR, and a new human rifle. This is an idea that could make halo become even more popular than it already is; people are still playing the original halo game on multiplayer (PC), and even more are playing all the other past halo games. If you need an example, the best one would be LOST PLANET 2. The first LP had one version of a gun type, well in LP2 they introduced multiple different weapons, for each weapon type, and they had a large increase of gamers and popularity than they did before. (of course the factor of the sequel also contributed to the increase as well).
Anyways the point is, diversity of the weapons for each different weapon type in halo4 will benefit both gamer and developer. I hope that i got my point out, and yes this is a very long post, but the idea still remains.
