How in the last seconds did Sarge survive? I hope Halo3 starts as a flashback at that moment and you get to play Sarge escaping from planet sized blast.
Why wait that long when you could pick up the Halo Graphic novel and read Tsutomu Nihei's story in it, Breaking Quarantine, to see his answer.
-- Steve's not sure it'll be canonical, but it should be pretty good reading in any case.
Well, there you go.
I know this is off the original topic, but why would the books or the graphc novel not be canonical? Isn't that what a universe bible for? I would think that with the amount of energy Bungie put into it, that they would stick to it (or adjust it) when they place their stamp on something.
Back to the first issue: It is an okay story. A fine story for a video game, but it certainly 'steals' from a bunch of sources. A little Arthur C. Clark, a little Larry Niven, a dash of atomosphere from Aliens. Not that this is wrong. Just claiming that it is a 'great original story' is a big stretch. Maybe for FPS, but is that a claim to fame? And don't say 'it's great for a videogame'. There have been many videogame stories better and more original. Pretty much anything that has crawled out of Tim Schafer's brain, for example.
Well it's hard to make a story now in any medium without taking inspiration from other stories. You see heavy influences of Blade Runner in many of our newer science-fiction movies including I,Robot and even Dark City. All completely different films but have similar themes because of their inspirations. Philip K. Dick and L. Ron Hubbard have probably influenced every single science-fiction and horror writer from myself to Koontz, King and others because they were so brilliant.
Fook L. Ron Hubbard and fook all his clones...
Maynard has changed that lyric recently for any interested.
On the 10,000 Days tour he's been saying:
Fook Rupert Murdock and fook all his clones...
That's right he says fook now instead of -blam!-.
