Some people don't feel that way, and I think that's okay too.

Because it wasn't worth the time to get rid of or because it's only a glitch that the poll overrides the subject every time perhaps?

I don't think it was a glitch. Pretty sure it was a 100% intentional change. There was discrepancy between the poll question and the thread subject, so one of them was normally vague. This often resulted in subjects like "Do you agree?" which obviously is not helpful. But there always should be a subject.

A while back, I seem to recall that poll titles started showing up in the thread listing instead of the thread title. The two concepts (thread title vs. poll question) were so similar in most cases that the web team made the poll question become the subject, regardless of what you entered in the subject line.

The subject line is still there when you add a poll, yes, and it probably doesn't need to be, but that's okay. It does no harm.

A similar issue was when we could edit the subject of our reply to a thread. It never showed up unless it was the first post of a page, and then it was a distraction. Today, the subject of every reply defaults to the subject of the thread.

I dont think it's a big deal to the website team. If/when the site gets an update, it may get fixed; but who knows?

This is slightly inaccurate.

Just for reference.

Look at the title on page one.

Look at the title on page two.

Replies still inherit the subject of the post they reply to, but if the OP subject is changed, it doesn't transfer to all subsequent replies (usually because they're replying to replies that had the original subject title).

It was simply that editing the title in your replies was disabled.

Yes, you're right. I was oversimplifying.
Subjects always default to the subject of the post you reply to. Formerly, you could edit them before you replied, but you can't now.

However, the OP can edit the thread topic, so this could create a variance in subjects for replies, depending on what post you're replying to. People replying to the OP will capture the new subject, and people replying to an original reply will get the original subject.

I've always been curious as to why the subjects here aren't stored at the thread level instead of the post level.

You know, I've always asked myself this same question every time I made a poll...

...Doesn't the subject line of the poll override the question when read on the pages other than the first? Or is it just my bad memory?

Stupidity, when sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable from magic

So if it actually does appear past the first page, then all of the dongs and such that you've put....

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

You used to be able to see both the poll tile and the thread title. Now you only see the poll title.
