First of all, I don't think updates for Console games should be called "patches". Patches are programs that actually change the game code that is stored on a hard disk. Well, you can't actually change the game code on a console game because the entire thing runs off of a disk that cannot be modified. That means that the programmers must somehow design the software to check for updates. Then it has to be designed to obtain data from another source (e.g. xbox hard drive) and load it and use it as apposed to the information on the disk that has not changed.

My point is that there's a very good chance that the code on the Halo 1 disk is not designed to be updated, or even check for updates, much less implement an update that is stored on the hard drive. The game wouldn't even know that an update exists because it wasn't programmed to look for one.

So if you want a "patched" or "updated" Halo:CE to play on Xbox live, you're gonna have to covince Bungie to publish an entirely new Halo:CE disk and sell it in stores. Good luck!

It's called either XBC, or XLK (Link Kai). Or just get HaloPC, so much better.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

considering how old this topic is bungie has addressed it several times. they cannot simply update the game to make it xbl compatible. i can't find the post but i will give you the synopsis of what was said by bungie. the game was not made for xbl therefore the code will not recognize any type of xbl content. they would have to re-code and re-release the game. too much trouble for such a little payoff. besides, people would start to hate the game once you put it on xbl and all the cheaters ruined the hell out of it.
