My teacher would let me do a Book Report on the book trilogy of Halo. She said it was sci-fi and wasn't "educational". It was kinda funny 'cuz she let all these other kids do reports on Harry Potter and I asked, um what's educational about that? and she said that they learned about england and stuff. I was like, riiiiiiight. Anyways, Halo's educational...right?

One could argue that the books contain elements of physics and military procedures which could be used in later life...

The violent element game bit probably doesn't help much either

Although since I've played halo, I've learned new things about guns, smokeless ammunition, and some other stuff. So I guess you could say there is an educational element to it...

Masterchief>>> Harry Potter

She is ignorant. If you teacher has read through the books and played the game (which I somehow doubt), and she still persists, she is entitled to her educated opinion. RIght now her opionion is ignorant.

Most books people read for enjoyment aren't "educational" in the fact that you learn a specific thing from them. It is just the fact that you are reading and you mind has to take in and interpret the words in the book and then analyze them. No matter what the book is anytime you read anything it sharpens your mind.

The only books that are "educational" in the way your teacher is thinking are school textbooks and you can't just sit down and read one of those all the way through.

On another note, there was a study a couple months ago that showed that doctors who played video games were 50% better at doing complicated surgery than those who had never played before. So if you want to be a doctor play lots of halo.
