Subject: why do people think the artifact on the trailer is the ark?

why do people think the dome opening up is the ark? at the end of halo 2, the arbiter asks where the ark is located, but then the camera goes to the forreruner ship arriving on earth. this leads people to think that the ark is on earth...seeing as how the camera traveled to the location when the question was asked. why do people think this? bungie may have purposely done that to reveal its location in halo 3. or maybe to lead people to believe it actually was the ark. to confuse the gamers. now, you ask "but what is that thing under earth lol?" well...lots of forreruner artifacts are located in human worlds. this may just be another one of them. in reality, there is no real evidence to support that the structure on earth is actually the ark. tell me if im wrong...and why.

I'm not saying you're wrong.... I'm not saying you're right. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. We'll know the answer for sure sometime in 2007.

Ok if u want a real reason its because its destined to be. Why else would the covenant be guarding it so much. AND didnt it explode????? or send a signal???

I am...whimsical today.

One of the reasons people assume that it's the Ark is that it is tough to see what else it could be.
Also, in my mind, the last thing we saw in Halo 2 (pretty much) was this great threat of 'the Ark' turning on all the Halos. And then the very next thing we see is a massive Forerunner structure.

  • 06.01.2006 11:28 AM PDT

i really dont think bungie would give it away so easily. remember the halo 2 trailers? they had nothing to do with the game. besides, those are all assumptions.

I would have my masters know that I have changed. And you shall be my example.

Yet another reason (if I could find the picture of it) is during the Halo 2 Behind the Scenes video on the bonus disc, during the "level cut" section, for a second or two they showed a storyboard style side shot picture of an artifact with pillars very, VERY similar to the artifact in that trailer.

Are you implying that you have to deal with them personally? Nice.

I think the big thing opening up is the Ark, but no one has really said that yet.. It could be something else. And uh, MC doesn't have dreams about stuff like that, he does stuff like that.

my first point is going to be:
i am sick and tired of stupid -blam!-ign noobs thinking that the camera moving to earth after he asks that question has any -blam!- thing to do with it.

IT DOESNT! get ur head out of ur ass.

second point:
i dont know. some people are just stupid. i didnt think it was the ark originally either BUT (im sure you already knew this.... ha ha ya right) on the halo2 soundtrac there is a song titled road to voi. and it just so happens that when you look on the map voi is right in between mount kilamanjaro and mombasa (directly where frankie said the trailer takes place) and that made many to believe that voi is where the ark is.... plus some fake(i believe it to be fake anyway) concept art of the ark which SOMEHOW looks exactly like whats in the trailer.

and of course its a common belief its on earth so them showing something huge like that on earth immediatley makes most people think it is the ark. BUT in one of the whatsupdates frankie said halo fans may reckognize the building's design. which leads me to believe it isnt the ark... why? BECAUSE WEVE NEVER SEEN THE ARK!

curently i am torn between the thought of it being/not being the ark.

i do not know and frankly dont care. we'll know in 07 what it is.

i love when people are so adamant about things that they themeselves don't even know the truth about. your basically arguing that other peoples powers of deduction aren't as strong as yours and as such they have their heads up there ass. does that make a lot of sense to you?

whether it is the ark or not ( i think it is simply becuase of what it does towards the end of the video) we'll just have to wait and see because no one outside of those involved with the game knows for sure.

  • 06.01.2006 12:04 PM PDT

sadly, ss zag1, im not implying anything. ive posted some really good theories (two actually) that spammers managed to screw up. one was about the covenants motives behind the war. the other was...i forgot. anyways, one dumb -blam!- comes along and spams

NO! they hate us because we have george bush.

then another dip-blam!- enters the arena says

NO THEY HATE US BECAUSE WE EAT PIZZA!!

after that, my thread sank even though i bumped it twice. the stupid fools.

This guy is right. After seeing that picture, I have no doubt that the Ark is on Earth and that was what was in the trailer.

besides, those are all assumptions.

you're making assumptions too, you may say there is no evidence that it is the ark but you have not provided any evidence that would tell me it's not the ark

Well, there's that, plus the fact that the sketch was labeled as "EARTH_ARK_09".

  • 06.01.2006 12:16 PM PDT

Also in the sketch there is a cliff to the left of it. It's just like the trailer.

First of all kid, you need to calm down. I want to know why your so adment about this. It's almost like your so afraid of this theory that you viciously attack any attempt to it, immideatly resorting to curses and such.
I think that it is the ark. Why?
*The object is in Africa (cradle of life)
*The object is the same as a concept picture released titled "the ark", a while ago.
*The scene where it switches from "where is it?" to earth.

I don't think its the Ark. There is no way that the Ark would be revealed 1/3 through the game. I doesn't make sense. My guess is the light may be a beacon that will point to where the Ark actually is. It could be anywhere in the Sol System, i think.

I say bull. It's not the ark. If you go back to Halo 2 and look inside High Charity, what do you see? a forerunner landing pad. It looks shockingly simmilar to the earth artifact, minus pillars. The hole in the clouds even looks like the hole in the ceiling of High Charity.

And on the ark, I dont think its the building. In the Bible, which we all know Halo is heavily based on, there are two arks. the ark of the covenant, and noah's ark. Does everyone see why the former is so much more likely to be THE ark?

For those of you who have read Genesis, you know that between Noahs earliest direct ancestor and Noahs, its several thousand years. I've done the calculations, and noah (along with his parents, grandaparents, ect.) lived about 700 years apeice. They were Forerunner.

The ark of the covenant is supposedly a box containing the ten commandments. I think that this is simply another peice of human misunderstanding. Tha ark of the covenant is a data chip conatainng backup copies of the ten major protocals that halo, and the monitirs, must follow. When its plugged in to whatever it is that turns Halo on, it reminds halo, and the moniters, what to do.

Plus, evolution and carbon dating and fossils date Humanitie's origins to central Africa, where this artifact (landing pad) is found. I think that noahs ark landed there. Noahs ark was a unique design, which is why there are pillars on this pad. noah released humaitie into the wild, and left.

Back to the Genesis thing. In Genesis, it gives the exact dimensions of Noahs ark. and let me tell you, they are really f-ing small. 16x32 cubits. I cant remember the third dimension. If those cubits arent really cubits, but some larger measurement, then they make a nice size spaceship. espeacially if its not carrying two actual animals of every species, but genetic copies of both sexes. I refer you to Arthur C. Clarke's Cradle on that theory.

before you all say I insane and think Hlao is real, I dont. I think someone is ridiculously smart at Bungie, and has worked all this biblical stuff into the damn game.

I say it is the ark and we have proven this in another forum, on the halo 2 bonus dvd there is a drawing of the ark shown which looks exactly like the object shown on earth. It is the ark. Look at the evidence.
