Subject: i believe that the original forerunners still exist...

well, i think that the original forerunners could have created this arc, and it could have been a form of transport. whatever was left of the forerunner(s) was put onto the arc and they escaped the flood. (just like Noah's arc). well then the forerunners stumbled accroos earth and found no signs of flood life. so they set up this arc and hid inside of it. now i believe that this arc is the structure that is picture in the halo 3 trailer. do you see how it openes up? well if it is opening, then this must meant hat it was closed at some point. i believe that it was closed and the forerunner(s) hid inside this arc. then they activated the halo rings and cleared all of the sentient life. but becuase the forerunner(s) were in the arc, they were not harmed and therefore they are still alive. now when the arc opens in the halo 3 trailer, the forerunner(s) are going to be identifyed and the covenant, will know what their gods were really like...

I belive we will se them in H3, if they still exist, that's another question, you should have added, the original forerunners. some here will most certainly come, "forerunners are humans so they still exist"

In Halo CE Guilty Spark says that the forerunner used the Halo, but we don't know if they used the Ark, but im still thinking they used the Ark because there all dead.

well nobody knows! the forerunners were in a great war with the flood. they had to retreat. maybe they were getting killed off and did not want to be removed from existance. they had to think of a plan, to rid the flood, otherwise they were all going to die. they made the halo rings which would, when activated, destroy all setient life (all life that the flood feed on) and by this happening, the flood would slowly be destroyed. but by activating the halo rings, the forerunners would kill their own species immediately, instead of waiting and being wiped out by the flood, slowly but surely. however, i believe that the forerunners that were inside the arc at the time that it was activated would have survived the blast from the halo rings, therefore they should still exist in halo 3... do you understand?

Maybe they used the rings once they were inside, in order to kill the flood's food source... but they werent expecting the Covenant to show up.

I'm liking this theory, but I like mine better, its alot like yours. The Forerunner built their capital as the Ark (Earth) and then set up a biological testing area far, far away. They surrounded Earth with the Rings, and then started the Project.

The Flood got out of hand, so they all ran to their fall-out shelter (The Ark) and closed it. (Just like you said) The Ark must be protected somehow....

the arc is protected by the thickness of it. if you look at the halo 3 trailer, each of the parts of the arc are very thick. do you not think that this could withstand the impact that the halo rings would make? yes and i believe that they also created a lab far away, which contained the flood. for whatever reason, we dont know...

u kno, it probably wont happen, but it would be cool if we found out the prophets are forerunner, because they dont look a thing like any other covenant, they dont share any traits the other covenant do.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

it's all speculation. it hasn't been said anywhere that the arc protects from halo's blast. there is no evidence to support nor deny that. i think that if they forerunners do make an appearance in halo 3 it would be a little on the predictable side, but it would definately make and impact. i still havn't even seen any evidence to support the theory that all of the rings fire at the same time, so who know's if earth was even hit by a halo blast. all we know is that a ring was fired, thats about it.

it is only my theory of what is going to happen. my theory is possible i think... just because Gamespot says something, does not mean it is true... that is Gamespots theory. many people have many other theories :)

again..is the ark a place to activate the rings in case of immediate shut off or is it like a safe house for when they do ..or both

one thing we do know is that it is a remote activation point for the halo rings. it could also be a safe house, but nobody knows for sure if this is the case. and for the above poster^^ i dont know if all the rings have to blast at one point. if that is the case, then the rings could not be activated as the 4th rings is already destroyed...

So to shorten this up, Jun is master chef.

did the forerunners use the ark? if they did they why are they all dead? did they just activate the rings and commit suicide? tell me what they did when they activated the rings?

Look it up on Wikipedia. They have info on anything Halo. Just search Halo (megastructure), and find the forerunners. That's what I do when I can't find info.

I am...whimsical today.

If the Forerunners hid inside to shelter from the Halos, then why would they still be inside? Assuming the Ark protected them, they are probably dead by now. If they are not Humans then we may see their bodies, or remains. Possibly a hologram recording? like a confession of the Rings or the Flood?

  • 06.01.2006 12:31 PM PDT

they would stay inside for a long period of time so as the flood would be destroyed, as they would not be able to feed off anything, because the halo rings destroyed all other life. whats to say that the arc is not a form of city within?
