I messaged deej about it. If only I had the ability to ban and lock threads...the flood would be normal-ish :P
There isn't anything to fix, really.
I beg to differ. Too many parody threads going around....Too many trolls that need to be dealt with.
No there are not. I don't know if you understand, but if there was a legit reason that needed to be immediately fixed, it would have been dealt with already. We are not mods and we don't work at Bungie. Our feedback is always welcomed, but it really isn't needed in this situation. If there is anything that needs attention, then the mods/whatever will deal with it. If the flood is such a problem, there would have already been something done. Whatever you think is not always the best. Bungie hires people to deal with the website, and as long as they hire good people, there will never be a problem that stays for to long. The day may come where they ask us for help or advice, but for now these "The flood is awful, so many trolls, lets nuke it!" threads are not needed.

This thread is pointless. (/thread)

TL;DR Stop being forum cops and let the people who run this site do there job. (Excluding things like reporting rule-breaking, etc, because they can always use that help)
And when the staff here aren't around to do their job?

There will always be staff around. Your basically offending Bungie and saying they don't run their site well. There are mods from all time zones.

If there isn't staff around, you should be asking for more mods on most of the time, not discussing how bad the flood is.
You must've not been here 2 days ago....and if expressing my personal concerns qualifies as offending someone than this place is even more ass-backwards than I thought. Asking ninjas to be on longer is not an option simply because life happens....and that would result in asking for more ninjas to be created and those get shot down pretty quick by the admin staff.

I was here for all the Versus threads and WW2 Russia....whatever. It was not that bad, and most were within the rules. Clever Spamming, I guess. I thought it was fine. When it got out of hand (alts and such) you saw how it was quickly dealt with.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

To put it in a (highly generalized) way you would understand... you are a tourist traveling along a river on a canoe, and you're yelling at the guys behind you saying that ---look man, I don't care what the tour guide says, we're going down the niagara river right now and I hear something loud coming up ahead.--- and meanwhile your flailing arms knock the rower next to you out into the churning waters.

Claiming any forum on this website has some kind of moral superiority over another might as well be about as productive. Delete the Flood and here's what will happen: a couple guys who post there are going to get pissed, their screams having about as much meaning as someone complaining loudly in a forest with nobody there to hear, and meanwhile the quality of the other forums will stay exactly the same.
I'm glad you can make generalizations too. It's your use of the straw-man fallacy that I'm worried about.

Oh please the flood is fine the way it is, everyone in the flood likes it. If you dont like it, then dont visit it. Problem solved.

Thats where you get into other things, like amount of moderators and more site features.

A feature where mods could ban links would be great.

I knew I wasn't crazy when I made this thread....yes....if not nuking than better resources at the moderators disposal or even at the common user level...that incident with the NSFW there were no mods for a good while but they came, took care of it....still more resources are always a good thing.

What could the user get to modify their experience here?

What could the Moderators use to increase the effectiveness of their efforts?

Well in the book Neuromancer they had these kinda' programs that would "flatline" you if you got hit by one. It'd be rather hard to rickroll people when you're dead. All I'm saying.

And so our hero Bruce Campbell road off into the light to fetch us this wonderful book. He had quite the story to tell.

EDIT: Read the book name as "Necromancer"....which is the name of the book in Army of Darkness.

Alright. Here's the quick and easy version:

Not the most appropriate thing to ask on a very public forum.

Well, I just don't see the point in complaining about another forum to be "dealt" with. It has always been this way. Community goers look down on the Flood and think the flood needs to be "dealt" with or "nuked". Which would solve nothing.

I certainly don't care what others post so long as it doesn't impede me. If the Flood was bothering you two nights ago, it's easy to close the tab until the Ninjas clean it up.

I very well could've, but I chose to report every single thread in sight.

Alright. Here's the quick and easy version:

That wasn't what I was concerned about. I was concerned about you misrepresenting my position.
Claiming any forum on this website has some kind of moral superiority over another might as well be about as productiveI didn't make a claim about moral worth or general rankings, I said "all of the spam and nonsense is contained in one place". That was (as I admitted previously) a generalization. The Flood, being a off-topic forum, is more likely than any other forum to attract spam and to attract posts that are nonsensical (by it's very definition of being the forum for "everything else"). It wasn't fair to say that all of the stupidity is localized in one place (it's quite evenly dispersed) but (and this is much more important) I never claimed that the Flood was solely comprised of spam and nonsense (you made that assumption yourself). The Flood has a lot of good threads and is a worthwhile forum to the same extent as the rest are - there's just a higher prevalence (due to more activity and the very nature of the forum) of the negatives.

It is somewhat silly to argue assumptions, but I don't think your assessment of what would happen if the Flood was removed is correct. I think there would be indignant children who would try to turn the other forums into the Flood (in the short term) and there would be those that would use the other boards to try to spam (either in retaliation or for the same reasons they spam the Flood these days). The Flood does a great job of keeping that stuff contained and, since I don't post there all that much, that would be the thing I would be most upset about should it disappear. For those that argue that the Flood has little to no redeeming aspects (to the extent that it should be removed), such as the OP, I felt that was a more compelling argument than anything else.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

I can't say I've ever seen the Flood to the point of it needing to be nuked. Then again it might just be me filtering out the same rehashed threads. Either way, just report them. They get dealt with, eventually, or better, they go to page 2 and are forgotten.

It's not even that bad? Remember 2009/2010. Now that was a year the Flood was pretty bad. It's fine right now, well you can't wat to clear flood of retards. There will always be trolls and spammers, it's the Off-topic flood. But I believe our Moderators are doing a fine job.

It's the place for all off-topic disscusion, so it's bound to have crazy things happen. If you don't like it, don't go there. We all know what to expect when we go in there. We have no reason to "nuke" the flood. We are a family here and some of our family is a bundle immature kids, and the ones who take care of the kids are the adults. Those adults are our mods, have some faith and let them do their job.
