Subject: Are you a thread stalker?

All the time.

When someone quotes me I get a warm fuzzy feeling. Unless they insult me, then a part of me dies.

You mean check to see for replies?
I wouldn't call that stalking.

^ yes. lol how does one stalk itself?

  • 04.18.2012 7:54 AM PDT

Per Audacia Ad Astra

If one were classed as a thread stalker, a stalker of threads, then nearly every user is a thread stalker.
What you are asking here is "Are you an auto-post stalker?"

Occasionally, it really depends on the thread.

  • 04.18.2012 8:07 AM PDT

No I usually post and leave.

  • 04.18.2012 8:33 AM PDT

Yep. I'm such an egomaniac, I check my post history from the previous day every morning to see if I missed anything. >_>

  • 04.18.2012 8:40 AM PDT

Roll the dice, try again.

If you don't post 50 times a day it's very easy to keep track of your posts via the post history in everyones profile.

once you post, do you stalk the thread to see if anybody replies to your post?
Stalk. I do not think it means what you think it means.
OT: I check back a few times after posting but move on shortly after.

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

All day erryday.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Admittedly, it's practically in my blood to do so; I've been stalking threads since as far back as I remember here....

I've been able to kick the habit for the most part, but I still haven't been able to completely. I've gotten to the point, in this forum, that I tend to only go back at the replies that were helpful - to follow up - or if I think my post is awesome. I can't say that I don't look back at them on days end though, because that's become a part of my nightly routine - if I've been posting.

In The Flood? You can bet I'm stalking most threads I post in....

I sit there and hit F5 like it owes me money. If I don't get a response I go cry in a corner while trying to pleasure myself.

Man I hate when that happens.

  • 04.18.2012 4:39 PM PDT

We miss you Logan.
Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

It depends on what I post in the thread. If it was a question, or a statement that users may have questions about.

"New reply in watched thread" and "quoted" notifications, which auto-refresh like twitter, would really really help my productivity.

"Productivity" can refer to procastination but also contributions as a member of the community. The less time a member wastes refreshing forum pages the more they have, theoretically, to engage with others.

One thing I have considered is to use my "saved threads" page for this purpose. The page would allow me to keep tabs on multiple threads with a single refresh; however to do so I'd need to sacrifice the intended design function of the feature and also clear it out regularly (as it would become far less useful if the number of watched threads extended beyond a page).

I prefer the term "lurker", i sounds much less creepy that way.
