I haven't been here for almost a year, I don't think. Granted, not many probably remember me, and there's probably a reason for that. I was never one of the "big" posters here at B.net.

But, I would like to take some time to reflect on what has come to pass: Halo.

Gone are the days of Halo. One of the greatest gaming series of all time, so simple, so fun, and so revolutionary, has been so witlessly cast aside by Bungie.

First, they take Halo 2 offline. Then, they give up on Halo 3 for Halo Reach. Granted, these are all business moves: trying to stay up to date with the competition, but at what cost? Each Halo game was a masterpiece in their own right. Halo defined the FPS genre. Halo 2 set a standard for multiplayer gaming on Xbox Live. Halo 3 helped continue that on a next-gen console. It was amazing.

But what are we left with? Is that it? We had 3 games, Halo Reach and Halo ODST, and now Bungie has given up? Granted, we're getting a Halo 4, but how far will it have come? Will we even recognize it as a Halo game, lest it be so different like Halo Reach compared with Halo 3?

But that's not just it. It's also what has happened to the Bungie community.

Remember when the forums were packed by people, posting about easter eggs, maps and the like? What has happened now? We are left scouring in the dark, with little to no incentive to visit here anymore.

But, I am tired, and I feel as though I am rambling. I will sign off, but not before letting Bungie know that they truly had something remarkable that helped define them as a company. And they just swept it aside.

I doubt I'll be posting anymore. Stats are gone, there's no real community left in Halo Reach let alone Halo 3.

I can only hope that 343 Industries brings some spark back into the Halo franchise. Because - from what I can deduce - it seems like it's been killed and given a shoddy funeral.

Come on OP, we don't need Halo to stay a community. I think we're doing pretty damn great.

I LOVE HALO! Better than any other game.

But I love Halo 3 and Combat Evolved - never got the chance to play Halo 2 :(

Bungie didn't take Halo 2 offline.

We miss you Logan.
Ask any question. I'll help with anything on site or off.

Stats don't make a community, the community makes the community. It's the people who are here now that makes this place great. You shouldn't stop post because stats are gone.

I am...whimsical today.

The lights are going out all over B.net! We shall not see them re-kindled in our lifetime!

Nah but we will.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

This is sad; you can't believe a brilliant development company would rehash a game for another decade - just to make a few bucks, and they've raised the bar in the industry (again)?

I say new adventures with great new. . . well - everything is a very welcomed change. Is it sad - seeing a game that I literally grew up with switch developers? Personally, no. I believe Bungie has much more talent than that.

Edit: As for The Community bit, those times will be back come the new IP - I'd be willing to bet my left arm, right kidney, and both my testies on that!

Questions lead to learning, learning leads to kowledge, knowledge leads to understanding, understanding leads to peace.

"I would kill to get a killionaire... 10 times... digitally."

"Were dark, but you still burn bright. Make friends, play games." -Bungie

OP, take this to heart. It took me a little bit, but I got over it. Just remember, whether Bungie likes it or not, Halo will ALWAYS be a BIG part of this community.

Basically, I make the best topics ever.

Feedback!
Duardo: This thread is locked for being stupid.
cortana 5 : It's perpetually my time of the month and I'm just grouchy.
Foman: I see absolutely no reason, either theoretical or practical, that this is not a superb idea. Excellent work, my friend.

This happens between every game. No need to become the oracle of doom.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

I know it's sad, and I know it's different, but when one door closes another opens. Be open to change my friend.

The North (and Bungie.net) remembers. Halo helped define my adolescence. To forget it is to forget myself. Impossible.

What a dramatic opinion, Dimitri K... Bungie wants to make a game other than Halo, that's all she wrote. The community isn't a shadow of it's former self; it's just been on a diet of mostly the loyal community members.

Looking for clan that isn't too serious? Then join the ODST 501st Airborne Battalion. Go to http://www.501st.forumclan.com for more info.

I was disappointed at first, but just think. Bungie is creating a brand new game, hopefully even a game series. With Bungie's previous creations, I have no doubt their next game will be brilliant. When that's been released, I think the big "Bungie betrayed us!" phase will be over, and we'll all be talking about that game.
