I was just wondering if anyone else has had their knife attached to their back instead of the chest?

I was fooling around in forge mode with a friend when suddenly my friend pointed out that my knife was on my back, like the Halo 3 katana. I couldn't perform any assassinations.

Edit: Also, on a side note, I have started up a group called Capture Card Renders where I capture peoples Halo: Reach, Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST clips. So long as there's a theatre mode, the group shall stay open.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

If you go onto the Halo: Reach Most Recommended/Downloaded files you can see it. It's called "Halo 3 Katana!".

  • 04.18.2012 11:31 AM PDT

Seen it.

Really random.

Maybe they had a Katana chest piece, but they were never able to finish it. So the coding is still in the game, just not the design of a Katana.

I doubt it. The katana in Halo 3 was an exclusive to that game only.

The knife was going to be wieldable but they took that out. You can still wield it if you mod the game though you can't do assassinations.

Please don't hype for games...
They'll just fall short of your expectations and you'll complain for months.

I had a screenshot of this a couple months back. It's the same concept as the noble team armor that we can't unlock. It's on the disk (such a other random permutations that can be generated), but for some reason or other, it's impossible to unlock.

You never know what could be in a game.

You just used the hologram glitch, where it picks out a random armor variant.

OP is a liar.

Excuse me but I have yet to see an armour piece where the knife is on the back and not on the chest.
I can't force you to believe me but it did genuinely happen.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

No, but its like with the Elite hologram glitch. Sometimes, it will come out with no helmet on at all. Its just an unused armor that is available to the public, seen through a glitch. it didn't happen to you're character when you were walking around, it happened when you did the glitch that everyone knows about.

K?

Either way could it be just a coincidental glitch or could it be a reference to the katana in Halo 3?

  • 04.18.2012 4:38 PM PDT

Yes, they would completely reference something, but would just let it never be seen by the public by any normal means.

And if I remember correctly, wasn't the katana part of the hayabusa set, which is legally only allowed in Halo 3 by a trade between Bungie and some fighting game. Could be wrong but...

Who knows? There's always been something funny about the knives in Reach.

This old, but if you watch a campaign game in theater, there is no knife on your character.

Team Ninja put a Spartan called Nicole in Dead or Alive 4 and they allowed the armour of Hayabusa (DOA and Ninja Gaiden) to be in Halo 3.

I have seen it before. Super rare though.

On a side note I hope they add a ton of additional assassination animations for Halo 4.

Allow me to enlighten you with this image I made that features Reach's completely unused armor. (Though that middle one is actually used by Emile whenever his knife is in use during campaign it turns out):
