I don't play much anymore.
If you find this too long and you're too lazy to read, here's a brief summary of what I'm trying to say:
The release of Halo Reach separated the Halo population since many still play and prefer Halo 3. Consequently, the overall Halo population has decreased. Because of this, I believe that if Halo Reach was never released, then the Halo player population in general would be much higher than it is today. Agree/Disagree?
Personally, I believe that Halo 3 would still be alive if Halo Reach was never released. I mean, I know that that's kind of obvious, but here's my reasoning: If Halo Reach never came out, then all the remaining fans (and possibly even some of the older fans) would still be playing Halo 3, rather than being split between the two games.
Personally, I stopped playing Halo 3 because a huge portion of the player population (including the majority of my friends) began playing Halo: Reach, a game that I never really liked. I'm also aware that I do not stand alone when I say that Halo 3 is a much better game than Reach (in terms of multiplayer, at least). Because of this, I've come to the conclusion that if Reach had never been released, then not only would the Halo 3 player population be greater, but the entire Halo fan population in general would be greater as well.
Why's that? Well Halo 3 and Reach are clearly two different games, and because of this, there's much controversy between which one Bungie's fans prefer. Also because of this, we fans are separated by our preference in gameplay and also the fact that many of us simply want to play the newer game. If that doesn't make sense, what I'm saying is that the release of Halo Reach has separated its fans between the old-school Halo 3 fans who prefer simpler games without jetpacks and armor locks and the current Halo fans who prefer the newer game with newer features.
Had Bungie ended the Halo series with Halo 3, all us fans would still be united under one game, and in turn, we might still have quite a few of the fans who, now, no longer play any Halo games. Instead of being split, the population for one game might have been greater than the combination of the populations between the two games.
I'm not here saying what should or shouldn't have happened. I just wanted to hear other's thoughts on this idea, if anyone would agree or disagree.
*It's a little late for me, so if something doesn't make any sense whatsoever, then I apologize. I may not be thinking clearly this time of day.
**Also, sorry if this goes against any of the Forum Rules (I didn't see anything against this, then again, I only skimmed over the rules briefly).
