Subject: Why didn't Truth hurry the hell up?

Citizens of Me! The cruelty of the old Pharaoh is a thing of the past. Let a whole new wave of cruelty wash over this lazy land.

Hear the word of Pharaoh. Build unto me a statue of ridiculous proportion. One billion cubits in height......that I might be remembered for all eternity!

And be quick about it!

And as for the abort button, why would the Forerunners make something so important and powerful that you cannot have an abort button? What if somebody pushed by accident? (Lol'd at that thought)

Someone should make a rage comic where a Forerunner elbows the button by accident after being told that there was another way to stop the Flood lol

Am I the only one who just assumed he did activate the rings, but they were in the charging phase? I don't think it was anything Truth could have controlled, it just takes too damn long for the Rings to fire.
Your probably right. Halo 2 showed it indeed took a while to get it work. They are at the Ark, i'm certain it took time to get in contact with the ring to begin activation. I didn't figure this when I made the thread.

But another question arises. Why was Truth on the floor? After the Pelican crashed we assumed he lost his chair in a thread a long time ago, but he's sitting on it when we pass the checkpoints getting to him! Couldn't he have easily used it to fend off Chief and the Arbiter? I'm assuming because he got infected right?

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Truth is both completely insane and a villain. Therefore, it is expected for him to take the least sensible course of action possible.

Very true.

Apart from this, he thinks he is a God, and being one, nothing could stop him or his divine figure from activating the rings.

Seriously, a standard Covenant squad, 4-5 Brutes + 4-5 jump pack Brutes, multiple pairs of fuel rod gun Grunts, and 1 hammer Chieftain and his bodyguards?

LMAO.

I've seen higher enemy numbers in CE and H2.

-Dead Orbit..

Truth is -blam!- retarded. He ordered to wipe out all humans. If he does, how is he going to activate whatever forerunner structures he wanted. Including the firing of all the halo's

There weren't any Hunters after the third tower.

He activated the Halo rings. He forced Johnson's hand onto the control panel.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Truth actually believed that the rings would make him become a God.

Once he was a God, he wouldn't need anymore Forerunner structures.

He's too in love with himself.

Truth and the other two Hierarchs, Regret and Mercy knew the Great Journey was a lie as it was them, (Mainly Truth) who fashioned it. They then fed it to the rest of the Covenant and caused the Genocide against humanity for the better of the Covenant, to prevent it falling apart.
Truth chose his name to remind himself of the lies he had to tell to keep the Covenant together.

Lol I just realized how stupid that was.

But don't forget the two scarabs outside of the citadel, but really? A covenant supercarrier holds up to one thousands scarabs!

Your friendly neighborhood headlight fluid supplier.

He's the bad guy. They always lose.

Also, the Rings would still have taken time to charge up and roast everyone.

Not to mention, what appears to be another plot hole (unless the Keyship was still in action), the Scarabs drop out of nothing, since Truth's fleet was in "ruins".

Yes, in the following cinematic he is shown infected by the Flood.
