Its been a couple years since I have participated in anything Bungie related, and I'm really just curious to what is going on with any sort of Bungie projects or Games or like the community stuff.. I attempted to look through the news although there is way too much to siphon through, not to mention its hard to understand some of it after not looking at anything Bungie related for so long. I skimmed through a little bit though, but I also feel like I'd understand easier if someone were to help me out a little bit.. So if anyone would care to fill me in like any big happenings in the Bungie spectra from anything immediately after the release of Reach, I'd appreciate it. I just lost interest at around that time and became very busy, but I think it'd be nice to try to get back into some gaming and Bungie things. I really enjoyed it when I was really active and I thought it may be fun to give it another go.

I'm just looking for a really concise description of some big projects or events that have happened since the immediate release of reach or around there give or take a little.

Than-blam!-s!

-Bungie not longer does Halo and they are in the dark. We are all waiting for info on their new game/IP.

-DeeJ is the new urk and he is far too overqualified and involved in the Community. ;)

-The Flood is still the Flood.

-I pray you've heard of Aerospace and their publishing of Crimson.

-New groups have emerged, and group Ride Alongs have been had.

-Mail sacks happen every Friday.

-The Halo stats on this site no longer update and Bungie Pro is a goner (for now).

-There was no April Fool's Joke from Bungie this year.

That's about it from what I consider pertinent.

Officially? A whole lot of nothing has been going on. These forums are like a big elementary school play that a school hosts every year. All of the roles stay exactly the same, and the only difference from year to year is that different people play them.

On the Bungie front: whispers. If I had to make an educated guess, I'd say we've got a MMOFPS of some sort coming down the pipe, and that Activision-Blizzard are involved in some way.

Bungie did fool us on April Fool day, look at the pinned topic for "The Truth About HFCS". Diabolical and evil mastermind Foman anonymously create a blog to exploit HFCS, and wrote that thread.

I should thank his mother for making him a great and evil lawyer <_<

Sing for me, will ya?

Oh cool, is urk still working with Bungie or no?
Yes, urk is still working for Bungie and he posts every once in a while on the forums.

I have not :S
Aerospace is a company that helps other small companies publish their games. So far they've helped make Crimson.

What exactly is a "mail sack"? haha.
DeeJ makes a thread, and then everyone asks a bunch of questions. After a while, DeeJ locks the thread and then in about a week he makes a new News Article answering some of the questions.

Ahh thats too bad

Actually there was an April Fool's Joke.

Urk still works for Bungie, and is still the Community Manager. But DeeJ is the assistant community manager and has taken the helm of community-relations/activities.

Aerospace is a sub-division of Bungie that publishes indie developers for Mobile/Social Platforms. Their only game they've published (Crimson: Steam Pirates) is a turn based strategy game with steam-punk pirates (from what I've heard). It's for the iPad and has gotten pretty good reviews.

A Mail Sack is a group of questions asked by the community in the "Question Thread" that DeeJ puts up every Monday for a limited period of time (usually about noon Pacific Time to midnight-ish), and is then published every Friday. In addition, whenever a new Mail Sack is published, a "challenge" is issued to its readers to answer a bit of trivia related to a question therein, draw a pretty picture with a certain theme, etc.* (but those are usually won on the first or second page so you have to be quick).

Also, not sure if you skipped over it, but DeeJ and Bungie are now doing things called "Ride Alongs" where they pick a (usually fairly popular) group on Bungie.net (Mythic Members, MLP Fanclub, Regulars, WorkPLace, etc.) to play with Bungie Members.

Also, Breaking In, a series of interviews with Bungie employees about how they got into the industry with additional tips on how to do so, is back and just as good as before. That is published at will I believe; it doesn't have a traditional schedule.

Oh sweet, thanks a ton this was very helpful. I'm going to check out Crimson in a little bit. And Mailsack sounds interesting, I like that idea. And hmmm Breaking In and Ride Along seem really similar to some things they used to do in Halo 3, just with a different name. I can't remember what they used to call them, but its nice to see they still do that sort of thing. I always found those entertaining.

Кланяються мені!

Expanding on Urk, I would like to point out the DeeJ is more or less Urks assistant. Urk is still in charge of the community.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Scotty got BB to post. Tis a fabeled day indeed. Welcome back.

Anyway, most of what has been going on has been relayed to you. Ride Alongs or similar to Humpday Challenges, DeeJ is to Urk as KP was to Frankie, The Community in general is as its always been, just generally less active (due to no Bungie game info yet). Bungie is currently dark, but they still interact with us quite a bit.

I'm sure there will be some extra dynamic back to the whole shebang when we get some game info from Bungie, or a game con. Til then, we'll do as we've always done.
