As long as posters are still held accountable for there posts, I don't see why not.

“I didn't want to wake up. I was having a much better time asleep. And that's really sad. It was almost like a reverse nightmare, like when you wake up from a nightmare you're so relieved. I woke up into a nightmare.”

I disagree. Most people try to keep gaming out of their social life.

:)

Would there be a way to limit accounts though?

What I mean is if I made a WLID, I would normally only be able to make one account on BNET. If something like what's in the OP were to be implemented, I would be able to make a Facebook, Twitter, and a 'LinkedIn' (whatever that is) account with the same email address and be able to post with each of them.

It would make alt accounts more accessible, no?

First of all, that is a terrible philosophy. If that is how everybody lived, there would be no progression in society.

Second, an argument can be made that the current system is "broken", and or could be quite a bit better.

  • 04.22.2012 10:02 AM PDT

I don't think this is a necessarily bad idea, I just think the site layout would need to be changed a bit to accommodate the overhaul.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

Canada isn't that important that it needs two of the same threads on page one.

No, -blam!- no. God no.

The minute I see facebookers posting on here is the minute this place turns into a cess pool of le arrow to le knee lol!!! xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD and The Flood is basically already at that level, we don't need it else where.

Look at Garrysmod.org. All of the comments, which you have to have Facebook in order to post, are -blam!-.

Also, what a stupid reasoning.

"Guys, some people are too lazy to register, let's spoonfeed them some more by allowing them to use accounts from other sites"

Yes, let's spoonfeed people who don't give enough of a -blam!- about Bungie or its games because they are too lazy to register/sign in.

Кланяються мені!

I have to say I"m a bit sketchy and here is why.

My job has recruiting section that used to use Linked In as one of various recruiting techniques. An incident happened where a hacker obtained several accounts and used them to gather personal information on a lot of people. Needless to say they took a step back in the recruiting process, but there is lesson there.

Being able to post from third party websites increases security concerns. I do not think the web team would like to add in additional security measures.

That is the only big problem I can think of for now.

Hashed out new post:

You're just talking about commenting on information on other sites with our bungie.net account. There is no link between twitter, facebook, blog sites etc. Mainly we could show up on a facebook page as our bnet name, but people couldn't just click on your name and have a link to all the other profiles with that.

After all, we're just an online forum. I'm sure many people don't want their personal lives being integrated into everything else they do online. It would be neat, if that's how it worked. I would actually enjoy that. People would see different people from bungie.net commenting on things and might want to create an account of their own.

Bringing in more people wouldn't be a bad idea.

If this were to be implemented I would hope that it would be reminiscent of the Optimatch Forum. Users who have not fully integrated into the site should only be able to post in a select few forums. I'd think the News, Gallery and game forums would be good candidates.

So long as the system lends itself to encourage NonUsers to become full fledged Users, I'll be fine with it.

  • 04.22.2012 12:40 PM PDT

I dunno. It would definitely expand the user base, because there are definitely those who are too lazy to get a WLID. But the good majority of people don't want to integrate their personal lives with forums.

As a side note, I use my twitter account to post to lifehacker's commenting system. It works, it's easy, and it doesn't require me to jump through tons of loops. And hey, that's just one less username/ pass to remember.

The fact that we have to use a WLID, rather than a dedicated login for specifically Bungie.net. In my honest opinion, someone should not be forced to have an account on one site, in order to use another.

Halo: CE Anniversary Achievement Idea
C-C-C-CANNON BREAKER!
Let Sgt. Johnson die on Halo.

I believe it would be great if we could link Twitter and Facebook with our existing Bnet accounts, but I'm not sure if I like the idea of people posting on the forums from different hosts. I do, however, want Bungie to get rid of the WLID system for logging in. It always wreaks havoc with my university email!

It would be extremely great if we could have a Bnet hosted account that is able to link with other sites like Facebook and Twitter. In answer to your question, I don't know how I feel about the idea of using other sources to log into the site, but I would love to see linkage of multiple social sites onto one Bungie account.

"I would kill to get a killionaire... 10 times... digitally."

It might bring in people, but whats cool about this community is that its made up of people who are here for bungie. Having anyone being able to post without a bungie account would take away that feeling of being a close-knit community. Personally, I think it's a bad idea to implement this.
