Well I think I know. You may disagree with me but I found that, when playing Infection/Alpha Zombies, it's almost impossible to hit them in the head at range with the pistol.
But it's still a common look in most playlists ...

I reckon by making yourself as big as possible, it can blur the lines between the head and shouders.
