I like the regular hunters in Halo 2. The only reason why they are 'weak' without being rediculous is because they are faced alone!!. Even the Halo 1 hunters were deadly on Two Betrayals at the final battle (with all the wraiths, flood, and other Elites). I think Halo 2 hunters should stay the same, but be paired not only with each other, but also be in a group of Elites (or even grunts!!!). Imagine the annoyance of grunts' needlers while you are trying to avoid fuel rod shells.
I think there should be one "mini-boss" in Halo 3 of 2 suped up Hunters. Equipped with black armor and a rapid fire fuel rod gun (the power of Halo 1, but fired at about three times the speed). Also equipped with a rechargable energy shield covering the orange spots (nowhere where they have armor, so it recharges). And some badass melee moves.
- If you shoot a rocket at them, they will knock it at the last second with their shield, avoiding most of the damage, but leaving them open for a second rocket. Of course, try firing the second rocket while its mate rains hell on your position.
- The setting would be inside or next to a (preferably) human make-shift, with plenty of random bits of cover from a crashed spaceship.
- No Arbiter; cloaking would be cheap.
