Subject: Are Halo 2 and Reach the most hated games?

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

Is it me or does it seem like everyone hates Reach and a hell of a lot of people hate Halo 2 as well?

Please explain community

h2 button glitches suck. annoying as hell when people superjump, and dubshotting so many people use macros/modded remotes its not funny.

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

Every Halo game was hated in someway. People didn't start praising Halo 2 until 3 came out.

spiral out

H2 was the first halo I played, and is tied with H3 for my favorite. Reach is the worst Halo.

If you have to use labels like 'Retarded' to describe anyone who disagrees with you, Then your arguement has lost any weight it might of had, and I personally will assume you are just trying to get a rise out of people.

Also to those who think that having a high KDR means you're beast; just the fact that boosters exist is a prime reason that any thumbless noob can achieve it throwing the 'my high KDR validates my opinion" logic out the window.

Casuals hate Halo 2, everyone else hates Reach.
Wrong.

Casuals don't want to play a H2 Rehash over and over again (I.E; H3) and would play H3 if they wanted a clone of H2.

Tryhards that bash Reach want H2 forever.

H3 was nothing like H2.

We dont want H2 forever, we just want good gameplay mechanics, good level design, and a good ranking system.

None of which was given to us in reach

Really? Seems to me like if you just removed the weapons, Custom armor, The Elephant, and Equipment that where introduced into H3, You'd Have H2.

We dont want H2 forever, we just want good gameplay mechanics, good level design, and a good ranking system.
Based on a lot of comments here, it seems most people DO want a game very similar to Halo 2.

While I have nothing to say about competetive rank (as one way or the other, I don't care about rank) And the gameplay mechanics in Reach really don't stray at all as far from H2/3 as people go crazy trying to prove. Really, increase movement speed, Jump height, remove AA's, Bloom, and increase Vehicle health and you pretty much Have H2/3 anyway. (and the maps where designed WITH AA's in mind anyway. I.E; Crouchdown.)

H2 got a lot of hate but it died down pretty quick. I'm sure a lot of people love that game anyways.

Reach hate never left.

lolnope, couldn't be farther from the truth. You only state the most general gameplay mechanics and turn a blind eye to the huge load of small tweaks that make massive differences. These things include a non-hitscan BR in Halo 3, movement and aim acceleration in Reach, massive changes to hitboxes, changes in hit registry, etc... The list goes on and on and do make massive impacts to how someone experiences the game.

Either way, people don't care about the game changing, I hate how everyone generalizes someone that dislikes people complaining as a group of people that like change. I also hate the people that keep saying that when Halo 4 comes out, we'll all be praising Reach because it is just something we do with every game. People hate unjustified change that turns the game into a pile of slop, which is the case with Reach, not the change itself. People don't care if you replace mechanics, just don't replace what is good with something that is complete trash? A game developer could add to the good mechanics, just don't completely replace them with something that plays like a 12 year old thought of the concept.

I would easily say Halo 2 and Reach had the most hate put towards them on launch for very similar reasons. Large hitboxes, hitscan (I actually like this for online), game balance breaking mechanics (dual-wielding in H2 and bloom in H:R), and a massive amount of bugs/glitches.

Many people here won't remember this but there was even a site dedicated to how bad Halo 2 "sucked". In fact, it was called "halo2sucks.com". People were constantly going on about how Halo 2 was far from the greatness Halo: Combat Evolved was. Anyone who actually remembers those times will know that Halo 2 received just as much hate from the community as Reach did. In fact, Louis Wu himself considers it the worst Halo to date last time I checked.

Just remember most of this isn't me spreading my opinion about the game. This is me talking about the sentiments of the Halo community during the time of Halo 2's release as I saw with my own eyes. The feelings of the Halo community have change dramatically about the game over time. Halo 2 did even get a lot better after the first patch but it was still hated for many things that simply couldn't be fixed.

So that means everybody will love Halo Reach when Halo 4 comes out.

He can be taught.

It's the same with every sequel: movie, book, or video game;
"The last one was SO much better."
It never stops.

OP:
Halo 2 is the best Halo. Anyone that says differently... well...
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if it's wrong. :)

Halo 2 had the worst sandbox balance of the first 3 Halos. That said, it also had the best maps. If anyone truly dislikes Halo 2, it's simply because of what was lost in the transition between Halo CE to Halo 2, and since it was Halo's first venture into matchmaking (and things like magnetism and aim-assist took more of an effect), I can't say that it's really a fault of Halo 2 for that and I will remember it as the Halo with the best map selection yet.

Reach is just bloody terrible for a Halo game.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

I love Halo 2.
My like for Reach, however, is cancelled out by the thousands of people who hate it.
So 50/50.

nah, i think the majority of the white ppl are just ignorant lil trash bags. Anyway, nah man. Halo 2 was definitely one of the best Halo's.
