Subject: Would you like to see revisions of posts?

If you're unfamiliar with this feature, it's where you're able to see the different versions of a post and its changes as it is edited, much like what wikis do. Perhaps something like this could be extended to articles posted in groups as well.

Yes, it would also make it easier to catch trolls who switch the OP of threads.

  • 04.25.2012 8:52 PM PDT

I suppose that would be a nice feature. Rarely useful except for looking at grammatical errors and troll-edits, but an interesting forum trinket nonetheless.

Huh

Can't see how that could be useful unless your a moderator. I know I personally wouldn't spend the time to research someone's edited post.

@Vinyl_Hb

Meh... it better be integrated nicely if it IS implemented...

  • 04.25.2012 8:55 PM PDT

I don't need to see how many times I used the incorrect form of "their/there", "affect/effect", or "your mom/your wife".

Spread the love...

Also, a question: Do Ninjas already have this ability? Just wondering...

  • 04.25.2012 8:56 PM PDT

It would be a nice tools for moderators. But I'm assuming a high percentage of edits are to fix spelling mistakes or someone has misread something and changed their post. Who would want to look at that?

For large posts it is exceptionally useful.

Why would you need to see the edits?

Why would you need to see the edits?
It's not just about seeing those, it's that since the earlier revisions of the posts are kept, it's possible to revert back to them if a mistake is made.

Oh...so you're saying it would be helpful to the actual creator of the thread? I never considered that...I always thought it would just affect the readers.

Ok, i see how it could help but not really that necessary sense the forums are not wikis. One reason they have that edit history thing is so when trolls change the post they canjust revert it but people can not change I
Our post.

How would it be incorporated into the site such as how it would look and would the edit history be for every post or just op?

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

It would be a commodity for a moderator, but for the general public, I think it would be useless. Posts are sometimes edited by you guys to stop people from viewing something - if it isn't a permanent ban - though that could easily be fixed with a "No Viewable Revisions" button. It would be a fun little tool at times for sure, but ultimately redundant for me.

Also known as the Keeper of Time and Space itself.
Simply as, The Face of Boe.

This would be extremely helpful. I hope the Webmaster can see this, if he does do it the Flood would be more of a peaceful place.

I wouldn't mind the ability to see post revisions. It would be nice if this feature had a little intelligence, like only show revisions where less then 95% of the original post has been edited. After all who wants to check out what spelling and grammatical errors the OP made...

I wouldn't call it a useless feature, then.

I'm trying to become an '04, but it's not working too well."

While we're at it, why not show posts even when the user is banned?

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Honestly when is that ever really a problem?

It could be nice, it is always interesting to see how some of the larger threads have evolved.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

That could be useful, I wouldn't have a need for it though.

Кланяються мені!

For me no, I really don't care. For Mods definitely, you have the only real applicable use for such a feature.
