I'm trying to become an '04, but it's not working too well."

Let's say someone posts a thread asking a question, which can be answered with a one word reply fairly easily.

Should the thread be locked even if all of the replies have more than one word in them?

As well, should threads that ask for discussion, yet only receive one word replies, be locked?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

OMG your thread can have one-word responses and therefore is spam! But because I made this longer-than-one-word reply it won't be. Will it?

And no.

Bye.

I always believed threads should promote some sort of discussion extending beyond simple "Yes" and "no" replies. So any thread that has a straightforward question that has been answered should be locked. Not because it's spam but because it's purpose has been served.

The threads seeking discussion that only get minimalist answers? That's just unfortunate. I don't think they should be locked though because usual a member will eventually come across the thread and write something longer than a line.

Threads like "Do you wear books for hats"? They should be locked. Most definitely.

I don't see a problem with letting those slide, but it seems like a safe bet to elaborate a bit. Give some background to clarify your answer.

You mean threads with little discussion value such as "what year did you join?" or "how often do you post?" that aren't in the form of a poll so that each pointless reply bumps the pointless thread and becomes a hot topic no one cares about?

Yeah, don't like those a whole lot...

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."
