Subject: Should our signatures be in a more noticeable area?

I was reading the post of another thread, and it made me think how much I don't use the drop down to read other user's signatures. I feel like we could incorporate them in a more noticeable area, though I'm not a designer by any degree.

Where would you put it, if you had to change it?

Edit: reading through the post, I'm getting the feeling that people here really don't like sigs at all. Would you mind having them removed from any post, and only found on a user's profile page?

They're on your profile page. They actually take up a pretty significant portion of a profile page.

That's enough for me. I don't want signatures shoved in my face like before at this point.

Most of the time I read a signature I get dissapointed so I say no.

Thesaurus.com

It doesn't do anything for me or anyone else, so no.

They are in a convinient place as is. Both accessible to those who want to see the feature, but not in the way for those who want to avoid it. If it were removed, it wouldn't bother me.

Yes and no

Yes because they don't get noticed that much, and no because most signatures are useless.

I apologize in advance for all the crappy jokes I make.

I would either make them appear when you hover over an avatar (annoying option) or get rid of them completely.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Signatures were removed all those years ago because they were a visual nightmare and didn't really 'fit' with the forum posts.

This way, we see more forum posts rather than long, obnoxious signatures.

Key

Having them under every post would be obnoxious considering the majority of them contain advertisements for one thing or another.

So keep them hidden, or would you even venture so far as to say you would like them removed from post and to only be found on a user's profile page?

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

I wouldn't mind it, kinda like it the way it is though. I like my signature quite a bit.

Spread the love...

Yes, I think it should be in a more noticeable place. But not below every post, that would be obnoxious...somewhere else.

Drop down is fine, because then you're clicking it with the "risk" in your head already that there might be ads, etc. there.

It's fine how it is, in my opinion.

Why not to the right of posts where all that wasted space is?

It only takes a simple question to change everything.

I want my signature to show up right in the middle of my posts.

The one with the ad and the redundant "Forum Topics link" and the other two buttons that could easily be put just above the OP.

They could even make the text in the sigs a little darker so as not to distract from the thread so much.

I like them how they are, however, the drop-down arrow could be elaborated a bit more.

How so? Most people know where it is for the most part. And the few that don't, well, they aren't missing out.

I've found signatures at the bottoms of posts work on sites where the traffic is high. Then again, most signatures were banners that users felt best "expressed" them. On a site like this, though, no. Please, no.

I mean, it's not really a big deal. Just nobody knows what to expect when they hit that un-labled arrow.

How about re-purposing (by that, I mean more characters) the location of the current signatures into an "About Me" section?
