I feel like there could be some really fun things done with those icons. Namely, when a topic starts to really take off in terms of post count. It would make it easier for a user to figure what are popular topics at a glance, and perhaps draw the attention of a Mod to a thread that might be getting away with a little more than it should at a much higher rate than it should ever be allowed.

Basically, have different icons for 50 post, 100 posts, 500 post, 1,000 post, and then anything 2,000 and up. Also, threads that have gone long enough to essentially "die" should have a necrothread icon, warding off necroposting.

Another idea was by mneo, saying there could be an icon for a thread when the OP has been reported. I think that would be very helpful to the community as well.

Im just a guy.

I personally think they're good the way they are. But it would be awesome to have 500 and 1000 reply icons.

To look up my Halo stats...search for the gamertag TopWargamer.
SAVED THREAD PAGES: 283
One does not simply get rid of TopWargamer so easily.
You know this to be true.
ALL HAIL GABEN

This idea has already been stated before.

I do approve of the idea.

Would be an awesome feature.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

At this point it's unrealistic to expect the Webteam to make any changes to Bungie.net while they're dark and hard-at-work on their new version of Bungie.net.

Doesn't mean we can't discuss such possible changes, in hope that they would perhaps read our opinions and consider making said changes a reality.

I apologize in advance for all the crappy jokes I make.

It would be nice, I also would like another icon when a thread has been reported enough times (before being locked).

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

If not completely changed, spice 'em up a bit. These have been around since the NavBar afterall....

They've read our opinions and considerations on many things, and it's likely they have read this one too (as this isn't a new feature-request). The Webteam - if they decided to include this feature in the next Bungie.net upgrade - historically likes to update features in bulk, and not 'trickle it out.'

My thinking exactly. One thing about Bungie.net I have always enjoyed is how streamlined and understandable everything is. It isn't cluttered in its format and I really like the feel of the website and forums. But at the same time, I bet it would make things a bit more appealing to add a little bit of new hotness to the forums, and this is just another subtle way they could do it.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

Yeah, this idea has been posted before. In THAT thread we discussed what colors they would be also.
OT: I think it would be cool for 500 replies to be a purple flame and 1000+ to be a neon or dark blue flame

That would be neat, it's nothing too flashy, and keeps things unique.

Maybe they could use some good old Bungie Lore, and have Ling Ling's head indicate a dead thread?

This thread would have appealed to me more if it was written with crayons.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

I have a felling the new hawtness is just about set in stone, therefore any new major suggestions will be ignored (or will have already been added). At the same time I feel that stone will still knock us out, I'm thinking the biggest update to b.net since the stone age.
I've run out of stone analogies, but when the update hits us, it going to be like a tonne of bricks.

I LOVE HALO! Better than any other game.

But I love Halo 3 and Combat Evolved - never got the chance to play Halo 2 :(

I like this idea.

I never knew what that ling ling is about? Is it from one of their games or is it some inside joke?

  • 04.26.2012 7:53 PM PDT

Spread the love...

I agree, it's time they should be changed :)

Here it tells about how it was kinda a joke, and there was later another joke about how breaking the jar that holds the head will indicate that Bungie will create a sequel to their game Gnop!, which is completely outrageous because Gnop! is like Pong.

Maybe you're right, but discussing new ideas doesn't do any harm, the thing is, we don't know if our ideas are taken into account or even read.

I agree, discussing new ideas is the whole point in the community forum. Our ideas are definitely read which mean the web team will take them into account whether they like it or not. I think a few ideas which have been brought up over the years will find their way into the new update.
