I know there will be many of you who disagree but starting from the end of halo2
chief takes over the forerunner ship and kills truth or truth gets away by the skin on his -blam-
meanwhile gravemind plans an assault on earth and the chief(for revenge) with cortana as his captive(shes probably thinking that chief will come through and kick the gravemind back into hell so shes got no worries and she probably could be just learning as much as she can just in case the good guys can get to her)
the arbitor and company(sargent " give em hell" johnson along with miranda and God knows how many ex covies) are trying to figure out a way to get back to earth to help out the humans(hopefully anyway...ive been sayin since the flood appeared in halo 1 that the elites hunters and humans should team up on the baddies(the flood and new covenant consisting of brutes and prophets)

after chief gets back to Lord hood he quickly debriefs and gets ready to find truth....the arbitor and co. show up to explain the "ark"(Guilty Spark would take awhile to explain interupting himself to say "I am a genius")...and the whole group discovers truth opening the big forerunner thing we saw in the trailer so chief decides to stop truth from activating the big forerunner thing or uses it to destroy a now grumpy armada of flood...

I know the possibilties are endless but thats what sucks people in to the mystery of halo....
Thats all i have for now ill check back later

just because gravemind took over the big covanant city(sry cant remember the name)
doesn't mean he got all of the ships and its bungie come on if Johnson can miracalously get off halo and the white spec ops elite can survive impossible deaths then anything can happen

ps: if the good guys find a ship and fly to earth gravemind will possibly follow..i just thought of that

True, because, if i remember correctly, The high Charity has slipspace capabilities... cause it just appears in the middle of Regret... Along with the rest of the covenant fleet

alright now we're talking
keep the ideas coming
I also think Grave mind might follow at a distance to keep the goodies from realizing they're being followed and cortana gets a message out to the unknowing ship and the good guys take the flood on a wild goose chase possibly leading somewhere so they can ditch them maybe picking up some"heretics along the way(thinking out loud"yes more for our army kick some -blam-")

So, taking into consideration the guess that someone will use high charity to get to Earth (most likely Johnson and Keyes) one could extrapolate a little and guess that they would either use it to one, follow the MC and help him take down Truth, or two, they would get to the Ark and activate the Halos, taking down the rest of the flood with them (assuming that the Ark is NOT a shelter). This, i beleive, would be a very heroic ending. Still no guesses as to where Cortana fits in, though...

Well, just to expand on your theory... my theory is that the ARK is creating a giant slipspace, which is the whirling vortex in the sky in the trailer. This explains why nothings getting sucked in, or why theres no wind, like we'd expect from a storm(they're not under the eye of the storm). I believe the forerunners built it to be the vessel for the great journey... the great journey being the escape from this region of space before the Halos were activated 9which we know from halo 1). I believe the ARK remotely activated the halos after the forerunners went through that slip space. Also, the halos kill all life, but they don't necessarily destory planets or other forerunner structures. This explains why theres only flood left on the halos, and why the ARK is still left, as well as all the forerunner technology the COV took.

This also explains why the spark from HALO 1(the floating robot, i forgot his name) knows that the halos have been activated once, but also why he hasn't seen any forerunners there, but wants the Halo to be activated again since there are still flood remaining.

The prophets either know the truth and are using it to kill humans, the descendents of the forerunners, so they can be all powerful or they just misinturpreted the forerunners great jpurney as ascension to heaven.

This also explains why the spark from HALO 1(the floating robot, i forgot his name) knows that the halos have been activated once, but also why he hasn't seen any forerunners there, but wants the Halo to be activated again since there are still flood remaining.

well thats a good theory about the reason we don't see forerunners(personally i think the humans are the forerunners but i could be wrong im not perfect)

Hmm..Seems plausible, but the Gravemind will have trouble getting on Earth. The Covenant probably still have hundreds of ships orbiting Earth. The Gravemind would have to slipspace huge ships full of the Flood into the atmosphere, which would be amazingly difficult, even the Covenant aren't that accurate with Slipspace. The Gravemind is smart, but has never tried to make Slipspace calculations before..

Of course..This is providing the game is going to mathematically accurate.

Seems like a good theory..But how would they have lost such advanced Technology and have no traces of it?
