I tried to explain why Bloom is a horrible feature that brings luck into Reach, but they don't get it, they responded with this:

How does forcing you to time your shots make it "luck based"? Does bloom cause your gun to occasionally shoot out a polar bear?

Since I can't explain it good, I'm hoping one of you guys can. How is bloom a horrible addition to a competitive game like Halo. How is it luck based?

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

Because it's random. You can't control where your shots go, which is why spamming is sometimes more effective than pacing. Not to mention the massive amount of aim assist and bullet magnetism makes spamming even more effective than pacing.

Two makes there more than speakers.

If you are trying to tell someone this on the Waypoint Forums, there's no chance they'll understand.

Pacing your shots is a good thing on some occasions, such as extremely far distances as it unlikely the enemy will hit you (but it does sometimes happen.) But at mid-range, spamming has become the solution of many battles due to how bloom itself is implemented into the DMR. It doesn't spread far enough, and even if you aim at their head your shots are likely the head off in their own direction, making it random.

There are even times when both you and the player are spamming, you have your reticle on the enemy and vice versa. Your only get to land 3 shots on them, but they managed to get all shots on you.

I keep on getting in conversations with a person who calls me John.

I can't for the life of me figure out why everyone hates it, I really don't see any differences in using a DMR a year and a half ago to now.

Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not a problem.

Bloom is in reach because of -blam!- movement speed and jump height. In halo 3, bloom didnt exist because you could actually strafe properly and jump like a master chief. Bungie put bloom in reach because they reduced speed and jump height. When 343 gave us no bloom, they didnt change the other aspects of the game, and thats why no one plays it and you die in less then a second.

Have you actually played reach, or are you just stating what you seen on way-blam!-point?

Bloom is bad in Reach because Bungie implemented it poorly.

Most games will have bloom work in a manner where the more you shoot, the further your shots go from the center of the reticle and in a random direction.

Bloom in Reach has each shot go in a random spot down the bloomed out circle. Because of this, you can spam a bunch of times and still get lucky a decent percentage of the time.

Too many luck-based wins resulted because of bloom, and that's why people hate it. It's really a pain to have somebody kill you over a great distance from five fully spammed shots when you were trying to pace.

Then why are you telling me reach has a fast kill rate? Reach is the slowest paced halo game <_<

Agreed, however when you cant move away to avoid being shot, then buffing the shooting can help. This is what bungie did to implement bloom. In a perfect world, wed only have sprint, 120% movement, 110% jump height and no bloom. Like mlg.

I don't think it's horrible. TBH, since they added the reduced bloom thing, spamming occurs more. For me anyway.

About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

Because when you pace your shots to negate bloom, you can sometimes be killed by somebody spamming because they were luckier. There is no way to adapt to bloom, just shooting slower doesnt cut it when luck is involved for both sides.

The new system is not perfect either.. Aim assist was high in Reach as sort of a balance for bloom but was not toned down any when bloom was adjusted.

I prefer TU settings but aiming is a bit too easy.
