Some people have posted of how the object on earth could be the Ark, even though this may not be so, Il be referring it to the Ark. They also thought that maybe the 'Ark' could take the galaxy back to the past, only the 'Ark' isn't affected. If this were to be true, all the sentient life forms living in that day and age would die and de-evolve to simple life forms. except those in the ark. However, since we don't know when the covies or the flood originated, this may not be good enough. I would need more ideas on that part of the theory.

But the 'Ark' itself: (THIS NEEDS MORE EVIDENCE-)
if you say the ark produes massive wormhole, (the massive light thing...) then that might explain the hole in the clouds above it, because if it did disrupt time, then it would disrupt everything in its field.
There was an incident at antartica where there was a circular storm. The explorers put a weather balloon inside and it shot up, when they pulled it back out the date read 30 years ago on the same day. The weather was complety disrupted, maybe its the same thing here, almost.

now fixed - note- when the link is in the top bar, make sure you backspace all gaps.

IF this link comes up with stupid oil prices, go onto
www.google.com
type in the words: 'time' 'machine' 'balloon' 'Antarctica'
and click on the top link

could well be :D though i don't know many things that arn't affected by time, not even a vaccuum could stop it. I also watched this program of a man who invted a time machine that consisted of lasers, but you can only go back to when the machine was first turned on, otherwise before that it wouldn't be complete. Maybe there is a similar affect with this 'shield'

I am...whimsical today.

You said it was small ;)

I too am convinced that time travel will play a part in Halo 3, and that the Artifact has something to do with it.

The link sent me to a page about oil prices and blockades at petrol stations :(

Facts are the enemy of tru7h....

I guess time travel could feature in Halo 3, but i hope it doesn't. It's such a Deus Ex Machina and i hope Bungie don't have to resort to that. I think it's more likely that the swirling cloud is more likely ot have been caused by an enormous amount of energy/heat being generated...

I do believe that that article is complete bogus though....reads more like science fiction to me.

science fiction doesnt involve current dates and are usually invented by authors, you don't have to beleive it, but Im gunna stick with it

Noah built the ark to save himself and his family from the flood and a pair of every animal.

noah = forerunners
ark = the ark
so pretty much the forerunners built the ark to save themselves from the flood.
in which case means just in case the flood became unstoppable AKA-gravemind they would go in the ark and then activate the halos and most likely the ark is the artifact on earth so pretty much get what i'm hinting at....

  • 06.03.2006 10:03 PM PDT

Or maybe the Ark is a giant Forerunner hot dog stand!

did anyone think that maby this artifact is drawwing energy into itself from the atmosphere so that maby the swirling cloud thing was an inverted tornado since if the ground lvl became the colder region rather than the air above it wouldn't that invert the pressures and direction of the maelstorm?

Yes everyone does, but simply relating it to Noah's ark is so plainly obvious, just wondering if anyone has anything extra on what i think. The antartica thing was true, but to say why the date changed i havnt got an answer for. Its just another un explained thing, you cant explain that it didnt happen, but i have a source to say it did.

HOPEFULLY the link should now work!

What i'm getting at is, if there was a time gate and it did send the balloon back in time the time on the clock shouldn't change at all... Clocks don't 'see' time in the same way we do. So they aren't affected by our definition of time. they act in a purely mechanical way. So for example. lets say you get on a plane in New York and Travel to London. Before you depart you set your watch to 12 am. The journey takes, say, 9 hours. What times does does your watch say in London?? Easy, right? 9 pm. What time is it actually in London?? More like 4 am the next day. The clock doesn't know the difference. It just keeps on going no matter where it is or how it's travelling....

Still not convinced... Well what about this. What if it actually did go back in time? And what if the date did actually change to the date it went back to when it was there? Wouldn't going the opposite way through the time gate have the opposite effect. So, one way sends you back, the other way brings you forward, right? so would the clock turn forward when it was coming forward just as it went backward when it was going backward?? So the date should have been the same when the scientists examined it again. That is unless there was someone in Antarctica 30 years ago to set the clock back another 30 years...

Q. What do you get when you add 1 man, 1 car, and 1 rocket built for a jet?

A. A black smudge on the side of a cliff.

It IS the Ark. Go check out the poll I started.

So because everybody thinks it is, after seeing only a 2 minute trailer, for which the object only appeared for about 30 seconds, it must be true....
