Have something like a meter that tracks how many of whatever is required to advance to your next title.

Like for base titles (heroic, legendary, mythic) have two meters for how many days of activity and posts on the forum in order to proceed to your next base title.

For 'no ban titles', have a meter that says how many days you have until you meet your next title.

For post count titles, have a meter that says how many posts you need until you... etc.

Thoughts?

EDIT: I don't care, I was just wondering what some of you would be interested in. Foman clarifies the reasoning on page 1.

I don't believe the system works in a way that this would be feasible, and I'm almost certain Achronos doesn't want us to fully understand how the system works or when we'll attain our next title.

Spread the love...

This would be really cool, but we still don't know the exact requirements for all the titles. And plus, if we did, I think that would take away from some of the fun of it :)

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Unfortunately, the formula for member titles is far more complicated than just days of activity and forum posts. Additionally, that formula is kept secret for a reason, in order to keep members from "gaming" the system.

It seems that a lot of newer members try to "game" it anyway, creating ridiculous numbers of pointless new threads and spammy posts, but fortunately, most of them eventually figure out that this doesn't work.

All the same, though, a "meter" would only encourage this behavior.

OT: Pretty much is impossible for the rank formula on B.net. It's almost random in some ways.

I'd rather the system stayed a mystery (somewhat), for base titles at least.

"gaming the system"?

Doing things you otherwise wouldn't do for the sole purpose of getting another title. The example he used was people creating spammy posts to boost their posts per day, which is something people believe influences their title.

People should post how they normally would if there was no fancy title to earn. It's much more honest.

e: I doubt the title system could be tracked with a sort of linear progression anyway.

I find you rather shallow and pedantic.

Like the meaning of life, the formula for titles is something no-one will ever know.

Not only does this approach not work, it actually means they are probably more likely to receive a ban / warnin for spamming or useless posting.

Not to mention, it feels like you've earned your title for being you, that way. More rewarding.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

Hopefully the title system will be gone in the next update so we won't have to worry about it anymore.
