Should've been called the Multi-Purpose Rifle or something then. And removed every other weapon.

Why do you think most gametypes start with it? All other weapons serve a purpose. This one just excells in the most areas.

The Assault Rifle is a close-range weapon. The DMR is a long-range weapon. Much as it sucks, the Assault Rifle should win out in it's specialized range.

Of course I might just think this because I've always hated utility weapons.

You'd see a lot more complaining if an AR sprayer would win every CQC fight than if a sniper could out-snipe a DMR at range. The DMR, as is, is useable everywhere. The bloom just prevents long range dominance. I see no issue with this. At 85% bloom you can still shoot fast enough, while pacing, to get shots which are better than a spammer would get. There is no problem and it's nowhere as bad as the OP portrays.
It still happens, whereas without bloom it would never happen.

With no bloom the sniper would be largely useless and map movement becomes difficult as long ranges are all locked down due to rapid/accurate DMRs.

Ok, now it's you who is biased. You are solely focusing on the misses, while I was also focusing on the hitting head while you aimed chest. What is more satifying to you? Hit head when you aim head or hit head when you aimed chest.

Those are still misses. You don't complete your goal because you didn't hit where you intended.

The only truly useful weapons with the DMR around would be the Rocket Launcher, Shotgun, and Sniper's Rifle.

We could remake Reach with just those four weapons and save some disk space.

lol Replace "Reach" with "Halo 2/3" and "DMR" with "BR" and you could say the same thing. I don't see your point.

yeah, but that's the game how it is, not how it should be. If it was a game without bloom, they wouldn't have the same rof anyways.

Not answering my question, but still my point exactly. Either you wait to let the bloom reset and allow the other player to kill you or you go for luck and may or may not kill him. Take the first and he may kill you with the same luck, take the second and you can kill him, be lucky and kill him by not shooting on the chest but head. You missed what you where aiming for, but got the kill. Now tell me, are those "bloom" options satisfying or is it better to play without bloom.

I dislike that.

The Shotgun kills instantly, but the drawback is that it only kills at close range, and is not a common weapon.

The Sniper kills instantly, but only with shots to the head, and it's hard to use at close range, and is less common than the Shotgun and generally fought-for.

The Rocket Launcher kills instantly at any range, but isn't meant for use at close range and is rare and fought-for.

The DMR kills at virtually any range, rather quickly, isn't too terribly difficult to aim, and you trip over one at every ten feet. The same was true for the Battle Rifle (though that was a bit more difficult to aim).

I can see why everybody likes utility weapons; you never need anything else when you have one. Which is why I play BioShock; there's a game with a good weapon pool. Every gun will get used at least once.

Completely wrong. If you ignore power weapons, you'll get destroyed by teams that control them.

And it's not the fault of the player that Reach is full of redundant weapons.

No -blam!-, Sherlock, that's why I said 'except the Shotgun, Sniper, and Rocket Launcher'.

Casuals can have just as much fun with or without bloom, but bloom destroys gameplay for competitive players.

Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

And still, to this day.

You continue to use 1v1 to validate your claims against bloom.

You're all -blam!- idiots.

The amount of luck that bloom introduced to battles was really so negligable in the grand context of things, that all the time spent trying to adjust it was just that... A WASTE OF -blam!- TIME!

Tell me something...about the whole scenario.

If I have a fully bloomed reticule.... and your body, or you head still fall within that circle and constitute filling about 75% of that reticule....

Does it make sense to go your route in which I should miss 100% of the time when in reality I only have a 25% chance to miss....OF COURSE I'M GOING TO SPAM YOU -blam!- IDIOT! I only have 25% chance to miss... WTF WOULD YOU PACE YOUR SHOTS When you have 75% chance to get any shot to hit regardless of bloom.

It's amazing that with all your -blam!- skill, you can't do the math on this.

IF I'm aiming at your chest, yet your head is still within my bloomed reticule...There is a chance for one of the bullets to hit your head, because it is withing the fully bloomed reticule.....

Oh and you see those blank spots over your shoulder.... Now compare how much of your body IS filling my reticule to how much of my reticule is just looking at blank air?

Figure it out idiots.

According to People who hate bloom. IF there is so much as any area in that reticule not being filled by a persons body..the bullet should go to that blank spot 100% of the time.

-blam!- your "Halo revolves around 1 Utility Weapon" Bull-
blam!-!

About the only LOGICAL excuse your people have come up with to fight against bloom, is the most stupidest one.
"I'm a super soldier, in a super suit! The suit should completely eliminate recoil"

That's it, that is the only basis you have to fight against bloom. The rest of it, is garbage you people keep pooping out of your asses.

Why isn't there an option for decreased bloom? 100% bloom does seem a bit clunky, but having played with reduced bloom (some time ago, I'll admit - I haven't been on the Xbox in ages due to Uni exams and things), I thought it seemed alright.

Please don't talk, it makes you sound stupid. But in order to get the more intelligent people understand my point, I'll take a few things of what you said and make an example of it.
Posted by: MR E0S

If it is negligable, why put it in at all? You can see that bloom is luck based by simply magnificating it. So lets say we double the bloom, would you like that? No of course not, because that would make the game obviously more luck based. It becomes more clear that luck is a factor and that pacing would be ridiculous. The normal bloom is actually no different, it is only clearer now because it is doubled.
Now my next question: Why reduce the bloom? There is no reason too, for it would make it so that you would get lucky/unlucky less often. Why go through all this trouble, just to get that result? When without bloom at all, there would be no lucky/unlucky side in that aspect of the game.

That argument is only brought up when people try and say that bloom makes the game more realistic. Clearly, if going by realism, being a super soldier would eliminate "bloom".
