Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

Is there something wrong with comparing a virtual battlefield to a real life battlefield.

The virtual battlefield draws lots of inspiration from......
THE REAL BATTLEFIELD!

So. Is there something wrong with making that connection?

Point being, you're the ones crying about bloom. Not me.
I'm just trying to get you to understand how big of a bunch of -blam!- crybabies you really are.

Because if you -blam!- this much about bloom. I'd really hate to see how much you would cry if the draft was re-enacted.

Everyday, there are actual people putting their lives on the line for you. And they are overcoming variables that make bloom look like taking candy from a baby.

Swift Death to All

I hate bloom. Not just becuase it makes me less acurate when im shooting a guy, i can live with that. But the luck factor that bloom gives makes it so that some noob can end up out dmring you even if your a hardend halo 3 veteran. Back in the days of no bloom a solid player could fight 3 noobs at once.... now even just 2 is pretty much impossible without a power wepon or nice nade.

Or better yet, if you told that squad of marines that the only variable of luck involved in what they are about to do all relates to just the recoil of their guns..... You know how easy their mission would be?

Claims virtual battlefields use real world ones for inspiration.

Halo uses powered armor suits with shielding technology.

Seems legit.

So, because Halo uses some futuristic stuff, it doesn't draw any inspiration from the outside world? What if guns were never invented in the real world. And instead we shot rubberbands at each other. If Halo had you shooting rubberbands at each other...would that be enough to convince you that these games draw inspiration from the real thing?

God I could only imagine how much you would -blam!- about rubberbands getting carried off target by the wind...

Well real life =/= virtual

The virtual battlefield draws lots of inspiration from......
THE REAL BATTLEFIELD!

No Shooter made is remotely realistic so comparing real life to virtual life is idiotic.

So. Is there something wrong with making that connection?

K, we have guns today that shoot where you aim.

Future warfare guns should be inspired by those.

No we do not!

most guns today are semi-automatic for a reason.

Because quantity is a good substitute for quality.

If most guns shot exactly where you pointed it. There would be no need to have most of these weapons shoot at such high rates of fire.

If you've ever shot a gun in your life, you'd realize this.

Think about it, why were fully automatics developed?
To overcome the fact that bullets don't go exactly where you point them.

BUT IF YOU PUT 100 bullets in the direction of your target. SOME OF THEM WILL HIT!

There's only a few people that I would trust to even remotely simulate the ability to get a gun to shoot on target every time. And most of them have appeared on Top Shots at one point or another. But mind you these are exceptional people that nearly defy all reasonable expectations of what those guns should be capable of. (Quickdraw shooting a .22 through a tiny metal washer that is flipping through the air... that is superhuman)

Id use a machine gun if I wanted quantity over quality.

When I use precision weapons, key word "precision", quality > quantity.

Anyways, I could go on with you, but why would I bother with the most obvious troll on b.net? lol

I can't believe you're actually arguing about this. Bloom is a crutch for bad players. It was designed to slow the game down because players like MR EOS couldn't keep up.

We're still better than you, bloom or no bloom, so I don't understand why you think we can't "adapt" to bloom.

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

No bloom. I also think that the DMR should have a capped fire rate, so people can't spam the trigger as fast as possible. This would also balance the sandbox a little more, since the DMR wouldn't be the only gun worth using outside of power weapons.

No bloom. Ever. I'd rather get owned so I can work on getting better rather than be a tard and leave it up to luck. Halo 3 taught me that.

I like bloom.
So you take luck anyday over a satifying skillfull kill? Good to know where gamers now stand, without reason it seems.

You want a reason? I'm someone who usually plays more defensively. I'm almost always mid-long range - usually long. I don't camp, but I don't rush the enemy. I almost always go for sniper first thing in a game. That being said, when I'm in that far distance, I prefer bloom. I know how to pace my shots, so in long range combat, I beat most people in a DMR battle (it's harder for them to get a lucky shot when spamming).

I can understand why people hate bloom so much, but for my specific playstyle, I prefer bloom. Although occasionally, they do get REALLY lucky and manage to kill me.

When without bloom at all, there would be no lucky/unlucky side in that aspect of the game.
[quote]Posted by: MR E0S

I hope you realize luck has ALWAYS been a factor and ALWAYS will be. Did you know the DMR isn't a sniper rifle? It still has spread. Spamming shots increases the spread. Spamming makes it harder to hit what you want. Not spamming makes you hit exactly where you want if you don't take spread into account. If you know how to pace your DMR based on distance from an opponent, then you would understand that bloom potentially INCREASES the skill gap, even though the luck factor increases too.

If I aim at X, it shouldn't go to Y.

You're trying to say that the only weapon that should be in the game is a sniper rifle. What else could you possibly mean?

And if you pace your shots, then the DMR with bloom is basically a DMR without bloom. I know what you're thinking, that someone can shoot faster and still kill you. In close range, you should be shooting fast. The bloom causes the spread of the DMR to increase, but in close range that doesn't make a difference.
