I get 5-10 per day.

That's crazy. I'd be lucky to get 5-10 per month.

Telling people to change their forum habits, provided they are rule abiding, to avoid something that really isn't a problem is terrible advice.

If you are really tired of receiving group invites, one of the main intentional purposes of the of the PM system, then just politely decline, ignore, or block the persistent senders who aren't getting the hint. Getting upset over things that can literally be solved by either looking away or clicking a button is a waste of time and energy, in my opinion.
I beg to differ. While it may not be the biggest problem on this website, it is still annoying. Showing that there is some sort of displeasure with the current 'system' that MANY private groups are going by these days (Everyone, PM anyone you see and invite them to the group) may cause change.

People don't seem to understand that bombarding members with invites can cause a negative effect, bringing less members to the ranks rather than creating positive feelings towards the group and bringing quality people to it, ya know?

Not to mention, the Community Manager of the website will see the complaints, and possibly give us, the users, better tools to help advertise groups. One could only hope!

"There's daggers in men's smiles." - Donalbain, Macbeth, Act II, scene iii

The PM system is the only current form of personal communication between private groups and individual users. Given that fact, expecting to not receive a group invite via PM is absurd.

However, agree that certain group invites are particularly annoying. I feel that a 'Private Group Hub' would serve Bungie.net well, and would eliminate a lot of the annoyances with private group communications (namely the invites). A news feed that advertises certain groups and their achievements could go along with this, as well as a general advertisement feed where new, small groups and large groups alike could flaunt their names and features in order to bring in new members.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

My new avatar seems to discourage people from sending me group invites.

Is it really a problem to open the message, see that its a group invite and continue doing whatever you were doing? If you're here that means you don't have anything better to do.

Real account.

If you assign every letter of the alphabet a number, a is 1, b is 2, etc., and you take all of the values of the word "MATH", and add them, you get 42. So math is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

I haven't received a group invite in ages. Maybe its the join date, or I just smell that bad.

I can honestly say, I don't usually mind group invitations very much. I've found several groups that I spend time in every day. Usually, they're cordial, somewhat informative, and well put together. However, in the last few weeks I have been receiving group invite after group invite full of grammatical errors, and claiming to have 1000+ members when it's really around 18-20. My inbox is a desolate wasteland of frustration. I get 5-10 per day.

Has anyone else noticed a sudden increase in the amount of group invites?
