I just love the last level of halo 3. The music, the explosions and everything about it. Am I the only one that feels that way?

I completely agree.

It combines the Halo CE/2 endings, which is great, and has a very epic sense of scale from the off.

You crash land, have a very physical mountain to climb, get a massive variety of weapons to use (even that soon-to-be-treacherous auto turret) and then get a large, less linear driving experience that handles well.

It is also challenging enough to stay fun on the umpteenth try, and is most importantly... a four player co-op destruction derby XD

Case in point; We used to hold a system link every sunday with around 9 folks, and every sunday without fail 1 person would be late to the party. So, what did we do whilst we waited?

Halo, rally point alpha, legendary, fun skulls on.

Every time.

And it never got old.

Meh...

It was a bit of a letdown really. Esspecially when you consider it is the level that closes the entire Trilogy...

- scale is too small
- Warthog run was boring and unimpressive compared to CE
- Visiting the Control Room....again?
- Flood really wasn't as much of a big threat anymore with the Gravemind prematurely being killed off (in an equally unimpressive and lackluster way)
- Fighting 343GS was incredibly lame (he always was indestructable...but now 3 shots with the Splazer could kill him?)

Only thing good was the skybox and Johnson dying.
H3's last level was one of those reasons why H3 was so lackluster and easily the "worst" Halo in the series.

It was an ok scene. I honestly think Reach's last level (not Lone Wolf) is the absolute best out of all Bungie's Halos.

I think it was a great way to end the trilogy.

By far one of the best. Halo CE still has the best ending and it always will.

I feel the same way, only opposite.

Precisely.

The 8th level Cortana was a disappointment. After retrieving Cortana, instead of increased resistance, we were granted relief (most Stalker Pure Forms idle = easy Black Eye skull targets or stationary cover, Arbiter) with pathetic resistance (small numbers of combat forms at a time) and easy escape (the end of Cortana could have had a firefight moment. Even LNoS could have done this correctly (were it not for that Pelican turret glitch).

And really, those reactors were easy targets. Even H2's Oracle elevator cables challenge was more sufficient.

Due to the predecessor's inferiority, the successor was ultimately doomed to be a disappointment. The level does not deserve to bear the name of a classic (CE's 2nd level) in that it lacks the length, the firefight encounters, the alien feel, and the semi-open world exploration.

Shameless plug for my blog:

Check it!

I for one, hated the final level of Halo 3. The only enemy was the flood and in my opinion, they just aren't interesting enough to fight for an entire level, not to mention we already had Cortana which was FULL of them. I want variety in a final level, big moments, big battles and lots of entertaining moments in between. The cutscenes were pretty lackluster as well.

But to be fair, the Warthog sequence was fun and doing that level for the VidMaster Achievement was an absolute blast!

So it wasn't all bad.

H3's campaign was more Co-op orientated.

I admit the decision to include more than 1 vehicle for the run (Chopper and Mongoose) could compensate for it's scripted paths. However, I dislike how the Ghost only appears on 4 player Co-op on Legendary. I never got to use it during the hog run since I don't have Gold.

As the Famous Philosopher Rick Astley once said: "Never going to give you up, Never going to let you go, Never going to turn around and desert you....."

Your not the only one, Nothing better than blasting through on Legendary with 3 mates and dying a heck of a lot

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I liked it. Not my favorite level, but it was good and brought a lot of nostalgia because of the warthog run.

I'm Filipino!

Halo 4 better have a vehicle escape level as the last level or I'm gonna... gonna.... ARGHHHH!! ~_~

Yeah, I agree about some missions being a let down, cortana especially. I hate that mission. Endless hours ploughing through flood, Gravemind and cortana intruding constantly into the gameplay.
