Bear with me on this one. Armageddon is defined "according to biblical scriptures, the final battle, after which the world is destroyed" - or as Cortana puts it :"This is the way the world ends."
It is also "the final battle between the forces of good (lead by Jesus) and the forces of Evil (lead by Satan)" - do what you will with that, call the Arbiter or MC Jesus and Truth or Gravemind Satan if you really fancy it, but you can obviously see Humanity as good and flood/covenant as evil.
Armageddon is first mentioned in the bible in Revelations 16:16:
Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.
Chapter 16 in Revelations is named "The Seven Bowls of God's Wrath", and we all know of bungie's love affair with the number 7.
Verse 18:
Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since man has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake.
- Where have we seen this before? Could easily be the forerunner artefact opening in the trailer.
Verse 21:
From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.
- Perhaps the space tether falling?
Another ineresting thing can be found in verse 13:
Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
Now I'm not quite sure what these "evil spirits that looked like frogs" could be. Perhaps the dragon could be the arbiter, and the beast the MC or something else, random speculation here. However the "false prophet" could very easily be Truth - leading the covenant on the 'great journey' that will kill them.
Also, it wouldn't be too hard to slip the Flood in there as one of the plagues.

Tell me what you think, and feel free to take it apart like some kind of homicidal shredder, pumped to the eyeballs on acid.
