No one likes Halo 2. That's why their few fans are so pushy. I've seen a kid on youtube brag that he made 5 accounts to like a Halo 2 video.

Halo 3 is the retard version of 2.

Finally someone who agrees that Halo 3 is Halo 2 watered, and beaten down.
Another bad kid. The trend continues.

You guys misinterpret bad and horrible. You're all horrible at Halo 3 therefore your opinions are worth nothing. Good try though. Sticking up for yourself even though you have nothing.

Dude, wtf are you doing. First, you call yourself "Mark V guy" and then you put Halo 2 and 3 ahead of Halo CE. Obviously you started with Halo 2 because there is no other explanation. If you're gonna disrespect Halo 1 at least get a new username. This post just sickens me like no other.

Lol. Well I actually started with Reach and called myself that because I like the helmet

Also, I only judge Halos on campaigns, and I while I like Halo CEs campaign, there are too many poor missions which bring it down below the standard of Halo 2, which is by far the best FPS campaign I have ever played, and Halo 3, which is my second favourite campaign. In fact there are only four missions in CE which I actually like, those are Truth and Reconciliation, Silent Cartographer, Assault on the Control Room and Keyes. All the others are, and not to sound harsh, garbage.

In Halo 2 I like all the missions apart from Sacred Icon and Quarantine Zone but even then I would happily play through them if I was doing a complete playthrough. I would never ever do another playthrough of CE's campaign. Whenever I play CE I play through Truth and Reconciliation, Silent Cartographer and Assault on the Control Room and then skip to Keyes.

In Halo 3, none of the missions lack replay quality. Not even Cortana. I would happily do a playthrough of Halo 3 anyday and enjoy every single mission

I would also do a play through of ODST and enjoy every mission. In Reach I enjoyed all the missions apart from Long Night of Solace and New Alexandria.

So I dont dislike CE as a whole, but the fact that the majority of the missions are garbage means it is my least favourite Halo. The good missions are good enough for me to actually like the game because of them.

EDIT: In fact, Keyes sucks as well. Just played it and its just a chaotic mess of explosions and FPS dropping

Like Noble Six said in another thread, this is a new low.

The original CE suffers from frame rate drop? WTF. Are you sure you're not on Anniversary?

And explosions? On Keyes? You are kidding. The Maw had a lot of scripted explosions. Keyes just had that weird substance. Or are you mistaking the fuel rod gun detonations for scripted explosions?

Posted by: Mark V guy

All the others are, and not to sound harsh, garbage.
So PoA was uninteresting? The only level in CE that takes place in space (and even go into space by glitch) and where you can gaze at the Halo ring (and even touch by glitch)?

I am appalled.

Crow's Nest is easy as hell (deployable cover for the hangar battle, deployable cover for the Drones, deployable cover for the Chieftain and his pack, Arbiter is very useful at the barracks and evac. There's many ways to tackle the fuel rod Chieftain and not even the 2 Jackal snipers before that battle can stop your rampage). I tried to share some things about the level but they're pointless when everyone's using the noob combo and don't need any elaborate means of killing...

Tsavo Highway feels too limited with it's invisible barriers.

Floodgate has -blam!- Elite allies and is simply infested with Pure Forms.

The Ark starts off great and has great vehicular combat but the end is where things get ugly (also, this was the one chance for a Chieftain that behaved differently from other Chieftains).

Halo is too short, the pyramid battle isn't that satisfying (why shotgun/mauler/rocket/fuel rod Flood and Tank Forms as bosses? Juggernauts would have been way better), and the hog run is like fighting the game at the same time.

Well at least you have some rationality. LNoS is the only thing I hate more than entire campaigns since the action is pushed all the way to the back.

I was playing Keyes in the PC, and I don't mean scripted explosions but just explosions everywhere from enemies. The first battle with the spec ops elites is ruined by chaotic flood carrier forms, grenade slamming grunts and fuel rod guns all at the same time, it makes the game lag up and sends your body all the way to other side of the room.

In Halo 3 I loved all the missions. The easiness of it all is fun. In the first two missions you can complete them without ever firing your gun. I think that Halo 3 just has addictive gameplay and towards the end a good story and I like all the missions. Cortina is fun because unlike Halo CE and 2 the Flood aren't overpowered. You can actually kill them with melee now.

Are you talking about the room with the Proto-Gravemind? If you keep the door closed, you can preserve those Covies for later battling. Just bypass them after killing all the Flood, there's a health pack nearby for replenishing and go a little bit further for a checkpoint then you can fight them without Flood interference.

Also, that (you're playing it on the PC) might explain why there was lag. Go to settings and disable decals, shadows, and select no-vsync. That will drastically improve performance. Also try adjusting particles.

You have a point but on a higher difficulty, H3 can be as brutal.

On PC CE usually runs well with high textures and high particles.

Also, to get maximum fun out of Halo 3 I suggest just playing it through on easy

So did you try disabling those settings I mentioned above?

Unfortunately, Easy difficulty doesn't yield the results that I expect. 4 Arby's with power weapons vs. a bunch of Brutes doesn't last long on Easy difficulty, even with skulls on. But on Legendary, the fights are much more intense and fun.

Actually, Halo 1 does suffer from framerate drop on native hardware. Probably more than Anniversary does, though Anniversary drops frames so ungracefully that I prefer the original game's performance as a whole. The only spot which is decidedly in CEA's favour performance-wise is the Maw run, which functions like an absolute joke in a few places on the original Xbox.

I'm always baffled when people claim that the original Halo runs silky smooth. It's commonly claimed, but totally false. I think maybe people remember it like that because it feels pretty good due to usually running fine and never doing things like going into perpetual judder mode (unlike CEA and Halo 3, ugh).

This is fine for the occasionally spot of fun, but gets extremely boring extremely fast.

Well I was under the impression that it only lagged when there were high AI numbers. Plus, I've only played the Xbox version on the Xbox 360 so that could be why.

But yeah, it feels way better than CEA and H3. That could also be why. H3's Sierra 117's dam has 2 big problems.

1. The Pelican. Magic missiles are ungodly assistance, even more so when they fire carelessly.
2. The Phantom that often collides with the bridge. The lag produced is immense.

It's not much better on 360 than on oXbox. Actually, the 360 software emulator is a bit bizarre; it's usually smooth, but it'll just randomly start dropping frames like crazy at the weirdest moments.

I was more thinking about the persistant judder those games have. When Halo 1 drops frames, it's due to obvious high stress and it'll go away when you get to clearly lower-stress areas. But in Halo 3 (and CEA), the game will occasionally just start dropping a frame or two every second or so, and it drives me absolutely nuts.

Legendary should require Iron Skull. Harsh, but that's my opinion.
