Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Yeah, you're right.

(the stupid POS forum software kept breaking the link to steam community, so I had to tinyurl it)

After not playing at all for a couple months, and not playing more than a game or two for easily 6+ months, I jumped on, finally found a vanilla server, and did that in the second game I played.

Sad.

Yeah... Take a look at this. An FFA should NOT end like this on Chill Out with that many people. If you would have asked me if that was possible a few years ago I would have been clutching my sides with laughter.

Me? I'm not. Whoever was in charge of that server did. :P

Halo 3

Reason I said that is because I feel like I read the same -blam!- about Halo PC here every time a thread is created.

It's either:
1. Population is not as good
2. PC mechanical issues
3. No more good players

Even if these topics aren't the Opening posts, or the topic of the thread, they always seem to pop up in any related thread. Besides, I can't help but feel like there's always conversation about how crappy all the players are in HPC.

So in the end, the ultimate implied message is this: Who cares . . .

Flame me all you want, but it's true .__.

There's one major difference here, Ben. I'm not just complaining about it. I'm actually asking why. We're at 2 pages now and no one has really given any sort of answer as to why this game's public community is so bad compared to other games in its situation.

Same topic.
Who the hell would know why the guy on your team isn't moving. Like honestly, how trivial is that.

Yes it's on the same sort of topic. There's not much to talk about here anymore. If you don't like the conversation, leave. It's beyond moronic to invade a thread to -blam!- about how you don't want to talk about this stuff. If you don't want to, get out.

I'm not just asking why some random guy isn't good. I'm wanting to discuss what the possible reasons are for why Halo is filled with less skilled players whereas other games like Unreal Tournament, Quake III Arena, Tribes (Older ones), Counter-Strike, and so on are filled with people who know the game inside/out. It's a simple topic of discussion that absolutely no one here seems to be getting at. Everyone just wants to either say I'm right about it, I'm wrong about it or complain that I'm "complaining" about it.

You're being extremely hypocritical, Ben. You're actually calling me out for being trivial when you're putting effort into saying we ought not try to discuss things in an online gaming forum. Why don't you just... You know... Go away? Nothing against you; It's just that if you don't want to be a part of this sort of discussion then don't be a part of it. No one is strapping you down to a chair to sit here and discuss this. Spread your little wings and fly to another discussion that you'd like to have. If you can't find one, create one.

By the way... I'm not sure but I don't think this has ever been made into an actual thread. I don't recall in the last 2 years that I've been active in this forum that someone has actually made a thread talking about the average Halo PC player seeming to be worse than most other games. We've made post in other threads where people ask how the game is doing about it but I don't think there's ever been a thread dedicated to it.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

The "why" is rather simple: All the good players moved on to better games.

So the reasoning is "Halo PC wasn't good enough for good players to stick around."?

Halo 3

Caaaaalm down. You're right about me being a moron for posting what I posted. And I know you aren't asking just about "that random guy." I was just giving an example of how pointless and unapproachable this thread is (arguable, considering it will and has created sub-topic discussion).

And Syx, there's a difference between spamming and being trivial. Being trivial would have some degree of relevance, whereas spamming does not.
Sorry to have frustrated you, I guess :/

By the way, I will probably be going "away" for some time, as Diablo 3's release continues to get closer and closer. So . . . excited!

This thread is NOT unapproachable. DusK clearly approached it correctly! The point of the thread is to discuss why. In fact, many people before you came in to give opinions that have something to do with it. You're seemingly the only one that feels this way here.

Are you trying to say you weren't being trivial but you were just spamming? By what you said I'm assuming you are saying you were just spamming. You were being an annoying prick by demeaning what I want to discuss. I'm actually trying to discuss something further than what's normally discussed here and you act like you're above that nonsense.

That's why I said arguable.

Yes to the first part, no to the second part.

Yeah. That does actually make sense... I was thinking that was the case but I was hoping for something better than that. :/ I think I've always had a deep desire for Halo PC to be better than it really is.

I hate to burst your bubble but when talking about the same sort of public population, they're just as bad. It's just that there's far less of them and all the servers that would be private are public because they can't get enough members.

It's also that way because of the "MLG" types that think Halo 2 is the greatest thing to ever grace gaming. That's why some of them still mess around in it. Even though of all I've said, there are still more skilled players playing Halo PC than Halo 2 Vista.

  • 05.07.2012 4:58 PM PDT

I still play Halo PC. I'm really good at CTF, but it gets boring after a while because of the people who are horrible. It's sad to see Halo PC is dying a slow and painful death. No matter what, I will be always sticking with my Halo PC than Halo 2 Vista.

  • 05.07.2012 7:15 PM PDT

I still stuck with Halo PC. There is still about 5% of player who still very skilled, myself included. I hate to say DusK, but you don't know what you're talking about. I appreciate the fact you posted your opinion, but not all of what you're saying is true. Halo PC was, indeed, good enough for every player to stick around.

Then why didn't they?

Also, Tetris, there's no such thing as being "good" at H2V. Kind of a funny comparison.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I noticed that anywhere that wasn't KNFr, I was usually making a killing. I don't have great "spatial awareness" so I can't lead my shots as well as others, but I do know it has to be done. It really seems like most of the people shooting at me were not leading their shots.

It's common knowledge for everyone here that you have to lead. That information is not in the manual, not indicated anywhere in the game, and isn't even that easy to find with a search engine.

I believe a lot of players are doing poorly in HPC because they simply don't know to lead. Sorry if this is a dumb theory, but it's an impression I've had for a while now.
