Subject: Bungie's Darkness

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

Did anyone here expect Bungie to be dark for so long? I recall them warning that community that they would be going darker than they had every gone before, but this seems to have take that to an entirely new level. What's it been? Two years? In any case, how much longer do you guys expect Bungie will torment us? Or are they just running a sick, twisted experiment to see how long random internet people will stay on a website that gives naught but false hopes?

Halo: Reach hasn't even been out two years!

Anywho, I was figuring a year to a year and a half from the time they said they're going dark. Meh.

I anticipate countdowns soon. Long and painful countdowns, but countdowns nonetheless.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

ODST and Reach spoiled us. I seem to recall general darkness spanning an average of 2-3 years between games during the Halo reign. So, I anticipated another 2-3 years this go around. If the rumors we've been hearing about E3 have any truth to them, it looks like we won't have to wait that long. That's a pretty big 'if' though.

Though I agree that we shouldn't see anything soon, I feel as though Bungie's agreement with Infinity Ward may have them hard pressed to pump something out for E3. As dark as they have gone, and I mean they have gone dark, I wouldn't be surprised if they were working on something specifically for E3.

Why? Bungie is huge on community surges, so they get people talking, they can start their leaking of info from E3 till the date they have planned to release information about the game completely. They could pump a game out this year, but I think we would probably have an announcement at E3 about the title being released in 2013, as per what you mentioned is normal for Bungie.

Does anyone know if Bungie is going to E3 this year, and can we see proof?

Do you know about time travel?

Possibly during E3, we shall receieve a little teaser of something new. That will end the "dark" era at least a tiny bit.

I think we should be happy with what we have. Don't think of Bungie going dark as a bad thing; think of it as the build up of a good thing. We shouldn't confuse our expectations with our standards.

That was in the old days, when studio's did not have as much man power. I won't be surprised if they have decreased there average production time, besides their hiring like crazy.

I don't respect a development cycle of two years. This is one reason I respect Bungie; they put effort into their games, about 3+ years of effort.

If they've been working on IP for about 2 years, then the darkness phase will end short enough. Bungie has a thing for three year cycles, and their game will definitely be announced about a year before it's released. What does that equal? Anytime, my friend. It's nearly time.

However, Bungie is creating a NEW universe, so they might be spending extra time creating the universe rather than the game. Possibly, these past two years, they haven't even started designing the game yet, which makes sense. How are you going to create structures and people without knowing what the hell you're even supposed to be making?

Bungie also isn't being held hostage by Microsoft anymore, and they can take as much time as they want on their game, whereas Microsoft was rushing Bungie, which is why Halo 2 was so glitchy.

Whatever the case, the game should be announced about one year before it's released, which would be this year if Bungie sticks to it's 3 year plan.

You should see how bright it gets in the studio when Burnaroos is doing maintenance.
Hint: It looks like a normal office.

They've been working on that secret IP for more than 2 years, since ODST era.

Also it is getting annoying not knowing what Bungie is really doing and when we will have a glimpse of it. "soon for Bungie are like 4 years of complete silence apparently"

Although "normal" for Burnaroos would be considered something like this round these parts.

The completed Forza Pod is much better.
The video version was an early test build setup elsewhere in the studio.

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

From what I can tell they've been working on the universe for a while now, since ODST. Most likely though there have only been a few that were working on it at that time, but still...

So if that's the case then I would (as you had said) expect something soon, probably E3 or 7/7/12.
