I also maintain that Chrome is weaksauce, and IE9 is fast and works very well

I keep forgetting about One of Seven. Bungie Day is less than 10 weeks away now!

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

I expect 3-5 years so this really isn't that bad.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

It looks like we're in for the long haul, folks. Sit back and enjoy the ride, it'll be a while 'till we can experience this again. We will look back fondly soon.

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

It seems about right with their developement cycle. Reach ended in 2010, now it's around 1 and 1/2 years later of probably mostly production. (Because Jason Jones and other who weren't working on Reach were probably in Preproduction for a long time, like a LONG LONG time, since there are hints of Bungie's next game in ODST)

With a typical 3 year developement cycle, most of the time there is around a year of shedding the light on a game before it comes out. So, expect a teaser at E3 then trickles of information through Bungie.net via BWU's and the like. Then more trailers and stuff at major conventions like GDC and what not.

Then a major flood of information around E3 of 2013, and release of the game in fall of 2013. (My predictions)

You should see how bright it gets in the studio when Burnaroos is doing maintenance.
Hint: It looks like a normal office.
*shudder*

Every time someone mentions "Bungie has gone dark", I always think of the scene in Predator where Arnie slaps a load of mud on him and ninja'd the Predator.

Mental image of the Bungie Boys all caked in mud playing about in their offices doing no work whatsoever...

My future is certain, I will one day fly away. All because I am saved from the penalty of sin. I know he lives.

Here are my 2 cents worth. They said "The Night Is Always DARKEST, Just Before The Dawn. My thinking is that E3 is in early June. So it will come with a huge anticipation of a small glimps of something, and the fade away with the result of nothing shown. Leaving us all feeling a little bit darker. Then I would assume that for a short time after that, it could be considered darkest.

Then comes Bungie Day. Hip hip horay!!!

But what what about the time after Bungie Day if they don't announce anything, that could be the darkest time...

I guess that this thinking could be a never ending cycle.

No matter how dark it gets, I will be here.

Me too.

Hanger one I just shredded with the SMGs until ammo was out and I just threw 'nades like a boss while BRing.

My experience playing Cairo Station on Legendary

I joined Bungie after the release of Halo 3. What drew me here, that little "Bungie.net" on the matchmaking screen. None of my friends knew about the website, and I didn't have live for Halo 2.

I'm not sure what Bungie's usual dark period duration was, and I suppose that Halo 3 - Reach did spoil me. Looking forward to the future though, I can't wait until the site regains its busy atmosphere.

To edit, I am suspecting that Bungie's 3 year development may be a lot longer. See, Halo 2, 3 and Reach were all based within this one Universe, and the bar was raised with each game. Bungie has to create a game that surpasses the bar, and create a Universe from scratch. I am suspecting 4 years, at least, from the very end of Reach until their newest title.

There are things much worse than the darkness and I'm sure we will find what they are soon. Summers coming.

I believe it is the community that has gone dark. I just flipped the light switch on and off to check for monsters. There were none.

Guess I will leave them off for another few months.

ODST and Reach spoiled us. I seem to recall general darkness spanning an average of 2-3 years between games during the Halo reign. So, I anticipated another 2-3 years this go around.
The difference between then and now, is that Bungie was not really ever "dark". Though they may not have been talking about their next game at some points, there was always something to update us on with their current / most recent game.

Did anyone here expect Bungie to be dark for so long? I recall them warning that community that they would be going darker than they had every gone before, but this seems to have take that to an entirely new level. What's it been? Two years? In any case, how much longer do you guys expect Bungie will torment us? Or are they just running a sick, twisted experiment to see how long random internet people will stay on a website that gives naught but false hopes?

I made a thread just like this. Cmon.

The world is quiet here. -L.S.

See you starside.

I'm surprised that people think this is too long. When they gave us that much warning and made going dark such a big deal, I got myself ready for 3-4 years.

I'm not surprised at how long Bungie has been dark, I am a little surprised that people think they should be back by now though making games don't just happen over night and before they tell us anything They probably want to make sure its worth it and gets us excited for the game.

They'll be back when they are ready and besides they have been doing a good job in my opinion at keeping us busy with mail sacks, and ride alongs and other stuff.
