This is basically a question, I don't have Halo 1 at the time, I gave it to my friend, and I haven't played the campaign in at least two-three months, so what exactly happens between the Library and The Maw?

At the beginning of Two Betrayels, does the Monitor insert the index, does he force the Chief to, or does it not get inserted?

After someone answers, this, if the answer is what I believe I will post my theory.

I am...whimsical today.

Chief inserts the Index under GS's advice. Cortana stops the activation and takes the Index into her program.

The chief takes Cortana, with the Sentinels trying to take his head and therefore Cortana. He runs around disabling pulse generators so that GS can't find a way to activate Halo without the Index.

He then gets beamed by Cortana, using the Rings transporters and the Chief's power pack, to a Covenent ship where Keys is being held, to get his neural transpondors, so they can blow up the Pillar Of Autumn, which landed on the ring, so they can destroy Halo (sorry bit of a long sentance there :P). The find Keys has been absorbed into a 'Brain flood' form, which is trying to itegrate with the ship. The chief 'extracts' the neural implants, and mercy kills Keyes. He then nickes a Banshee and flys to te PoA. He gets to the Bridge and starts the self destruct, but GS gets there and aborts it. The Chief gets to the reactor and blows it up, and has 5 min to get to a longsword fighter. during this time Foehammer is shot down by a banshee patrol. He escapes, Halo blows up, yadda yadda.

Woah woah woah. I know the Pillar of Autumn, Keyes etc. Now I need to know the beginning of cutscene of Two Betrayals.

According to you, Chief inserts the index. Then Cortana takes it out? I specifically remember her saying something along the lines of "Do what? I've got the index! You can just float and sputter!"

Was it ever actually inserted?

yes, i played the halo:CE campaign today. the index was inserted by MC because 343GS told him that it would activate halo and kill the flood. MC didnt know that it would kill all life. Cortana was still in the halo control room computer because MC left her there. when MC inserted the index cortana took it and stopped it from activating halo.

to answer your question in short:
yes the index was actually inserted

the humans are NOT the forerunners, 343 said (right before u faught tartarus) "my creaters (aka the forerunners) were destryoed along with all other sentient life"

To 343's knowledge they were destroyed. But if you look at some of the Ark/Human/Forerunner theories they make a good point that humans might be descended from or at least created by the Forerunner.

The theory that explains everything.....I hope. =)

My Theory is that the Forerunners made the Halo rings and the leaders had everyone who worked on thenm killed. Then when the Forerunners were losing against the Flood they retreated to the Ark which is on Earth but one stayed behind to begin the activation sequence on Installation 7 which is why the moniter says"Last time you asked me'if it was my choice would I do it?' After having considerable timee to ponder the query my answer has not changed. There was no other choice". I belive that this Forerunner was selected to be a suicide activator of the rings which in retrospect sound alot like wat the arbiters are to the Covanent no? The Prophets say"You will die like all the Arbiters have before you". Thus implying the suicidle nature of the job. But the Moniter only recognises humans as "Reclaimers" so the Forerunners must have been Human or close to Human. So it seems that the Covanent are basing there civilization on what appear to be the predecesors of Humans which is ironically the species they are wiping out. However I think the Prophets know this because before he dies the Prophet of Regret says"this time none of you will be left alive" when he is speaking to Master Chief this would also explain the reference of Master Chief as "Demon" among the Covanent forces. So the Prophets were fighting the Forerunners and the Forerunners encounter tyhe Flood. So the Forerunners try to use the Flood as a biological weapon to wipe out the Prophets but the plan backfires. So the Forerunners try to contain the Flood on the Halos but build a fail-safe just in case the Prophets found the Halos. So when the Forerunner lost the war they retreated to the Ark because of course they would have wanted to protct them selfves and the sent out a suicidle Arbiter-like person to detonate the Halos. He succeeds and the Forerunners start to rebuild but then leave the galaxy when they find the Prophets have somehow survived. The ones that stay behind start the Human race and over time the whole affair is forgotton until the first recontact with the covanent. Also the Forerunners might not have fled the galaxy but could be holed up in the Ark for fear of the Prophets and the Flood. This is given evidence by the star maps that are engraved in the stones recovered by MC at Sigmus Octavus IV (not right spelling srry) and the fact that MC somehow "knows" how to activate the silent cartogifer and the ligght bridge. The fact that he can't explain it himself is proof that this is rooted deep in his subconcious.

Just a theory but respond please.

Why would they send a suicide mission when "the Ark" is designed to remotely activate the rings?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the ark could only activate the halos after one had been shut down while in the middle of the firing process.

That theory actually sounds good, it would be cool if that is the case. The prophets are tricking the rest of the covy into fighting and dying for their cause, while lying through their teeth to them. There really isn't any evidence backing you up, but I like that theory, it sounds good.

Kinda going along with what SpartenSoldier said...

I was thinkin..............

In biblical history God told Noah build an "Ark" that would protect him and a specific few others when he killed everything else on the planet. After that Noah and his family completly repopulated the earth.....maybe, possably (even if you dont believe in the bible) that might be the way the Ark is used in the game. That way when All sentient life in the galaxy was killed there would be a select few to repopulate it. Also, I highly doubt that the world went through a complete evolution again because if you look at all the charicters (with the exception of the covy engineres) they are all bipedal (walk on two legs). If they had normally evolved there would be Much more diversity amoung the species.

Also, when it comes to the flood....

If the Forerunners were so advanced, why didnt they create the rings to destroy the flood and not themselves. I think that the flood was created as a sort of Biological Weapon. Because it doesnt make much sense to volentarily kill your entire civilzation, there may have been another group of beings (or civilization) that was at war with the Forerunners. They would have used the flood And the Rings to completly destroy the Forerunners...

And that other civilization would be the ones that are our ancestors......

What do you guys think....?
