A PCI slot? You have a limited selection there. I guess a GeForce 6200 can run Half-Life 2.

Btw, I love your sig.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

The best you can get is a Geforce 5500.

Search for a PCI one at Newegg.com

A PCI slot, ey? As the two guys above me explained, get either a GeForce FX5500 or a 6200. I don't have Half-Life 2 (well, not yet, I'm getting it soon), but I'm sure those cards are able to run the game at smooth settings. Hoped I was able to help.

The 5500 has a 128bit memory interface, while the 6200 has a 64bit interface.

The 6200 has a slight memory clock speed advantage, but it's still worse overall IMO.

Yea, the 5500 is a better GPU for gaming.

It is little known that nVidia's GPU don't increase in power because the first number is bigger. It is actually the second number that determines the gaming performance of the video card. For instance, a 6600 GT is more powerful than a 7300 GT, the 7300 just has newer technology.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

With any PCI video card, you're looking at running Halo and HL2 at very low detail levels in order to play. But it should work.

Master chief 00117 are you trying to say that a 6800 gt beats a 7600 gt ?

He said the 6600GT, not the 6800GT, and he said the 7300GT, not the 7600GT. And yes, he clearly said it's better. And it is, I mean new technology doesn't nessacarily make graphics better, it depends on what the new technology is.

i was thinking about just buying a custom gaming modem from here. Theyre relatively cheap and not too bad. Might have to save up over the summer though.

Ok, I cant post a new topic for 24 hours but I have a question. What is the cheapest graphics card I can get that will play Halo at max settings?

I have a Dell Dimension 4600i (think its AGP), Intel Pentium 4 processor 3.00 GHz, 1014 RAM

so um, I guess the geforce FX 5950 OWNS all other cards except for the 7950 GX2 because it has a 9 in it.

What stupid logic you have.

It's called patience, my friend.

If it has AGP, then get a GeForce 6600 with 256 MB. It's a great mid-range card which has served me well and you can run Halo PC at a high resolution and a good framerate.
