Since, Bungie has been dark, I've been communicating more and more with friends and private groups. Probably because I haven't been playing Halo as much.

Of course, when Bungie's new game comes out, we'll all be focused on that but has anyone else noticed this? Have you formed new friendships or talked with new people during the dark time?

I'm a stubborn guy. I love to argue my opinion, but unlike others, I'll try to see your side of the problem. I'm a triathlete, with a very heavy empephis on the swimming bit. Also, don't hate on the ~Quinton~ at the end of my posts. Why are you still reading this? #creeper #hashtagcashmoney for hashtaging on Bungie.net

The number of trolls/asshats are-- to me at least, aren't as strong in their numbers. The nice guys seem to have stuck around. Nice guys finish last I guess.

There has always been a strong sense of community when Bungie goes dark. They always have a couple guys that stick around and play games here and there with members of the community, and they don't leave us out to dry alone.

It's why I've come to love Bungie instead of Halo. I'm realizing now that it never was Halo that I enjoyed most; it was Bungie all along. :)

Actually quite the opposite.

When Halo 3 was in full swing this site was jumping.

When Reach was launched, in the following months participation on the site overall fell.

In private groups, we all have seen people leave the site for there is no 'Bungie' game that unifies us like Halo 3 did. We remain fairly active, but overall participation there and site wide seems to be faltering.

Darkness usually kills forum activity for me. I can't stand speculation because most of it is very misinformed, and that's all it is when it's dark.

It's nice, because when I come on the forums I know almost everyone I see. It's kind of nice, but we also need some new faces to keep this place interesting.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

I have noticed this as well.

I mentioned in another thread that while a lot of people are hoping that Bungie will roll away the stone that's been covering the mouth of their proverbial cave wherein they craft the magic that we all love to play, we should focus on the present.

We should not dream of the future, nor dwell in the past, but rather concentrate on what's happening now. We will look back fondly on these dark times, and the darkness (while sounding ominous) is actually a good thing. This gives us time to meet the fellow fans.

After all, we all came here for roughly the same reasons, which means we all have common interests.

I feel that during these dark times, we should no longer look at these forums as the place of Bungie and their games, but rather as the place of Bungie and their community. We all play different games, we don't only play Halo. Let's start to get to know each other. Find the others here who also enjoy that game that you do. Join private groups. Socialize.

This is our community too.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

Actually I've gotten to know a few people much better during this darkness, and I've gotten deeper into privates. So it hasn't been all bad.

I apologize in advance for all the crappy jokes I make.

I think I've been posting more since Bungie is dark too.

I never made threads before, and now I find myself creating them almost every day.

The only LAST were experiencing is the fact that were the only ones to LAST here, which in my book means we finished first, maybe second.

Clear evidence that Bungie.net is a social network.

And I'm not just saying that to mock all of you keep using the opposite as justification for not having the site/community engage in certain ways either.
