I played Halo 2 first. And, to be honest... I wasn't really paying enough attention during the Oracle level the first time through to notice anything was really going on. But when I got to the Sacred Icon level I thought I had fallen asleep while playing and had entered a dreamworld. The whole gaming experience changed for me. My first reaction was, "OMG... Halo is a zombie game... I've been playing a space zombie game and I didn't even know it." My second reaction was thinking what a great move it was on Bungie's part to have something like the Flood in their game. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but the great three way sci-fi wars are waged between the same three combatants: An industrial side (humans, Terran, UNSC), a biological side (Aliens, Zerg, Flood), and a ceremonial side (Predators, Protos, Covenant). This seems to be a winning combination and Bungie hit the nail on the head.
