While I had heard of this "Flood," on other websites, nothing prepared me for the sight of these gray skinned goonies...
Well, as soon as the level starts you know something is up, but once I reached the downed Pelican, and listened to the message playing there, I was genuinely unnerved. Not to mention the friendly radar blips, and shadows of Marines on the cliffs above you.
Upon my arrival at the entrance to the underground base, and seeing the gunfire, I thought that my fears had been for naught, and that a squadron of armed Marines would greet me around the corner. I was wrong.
Moving even further into the base presented me with the famous "There's the Elevator, But Nobody's On It," scene. Well, I haven't seen many horror movies, but I did have the common sense to know that something bad and scary was just around the corner.
Well that was an awfully long corner, but the rooms full of slaughtered Covenant, and the half-crazed Marine sealed the deal for me. I thought about quitting right there and then, but a morbid curiosity kept me going...
Boy do I hate morbid curiosity! After the Jenkins video, I nearly soiled my new underpants, but kept telling myself that the Flood weren't real...Well at least in the real world...The Infection forms did it for me. I quit then, but the next week, I mustered up some courage and blasted my way outta there!
The squadron of Marines that greet you towards the end of the level gave me some semblance of relief, but sadly, since I was so hyper-adrenalated (Is that a word? LOL!) I shot one in the leg. Running towards the extraction zone while my fellow marines were being killed all around me seemed to make my trigger finger all the more itchy, seeing as I tried to "save" my fellows by shooting the Infection forms off of them, killing them in the process. When Guilty Spark finally showed his face...er, lense...I really didn't know what to expect, but at least by the end of the level I wasn't afraid of the Flood anymore. Hehehehe...
