I was just wondering if in the near future we'd be able to sign on here without having to sign in on MSN, it's not often but it gets kind of annoying when I try to sign in my old account for school related e-mails only to be signed out on B.net as a result.

Or am I being a fool and there's a separate way around this? please enlighten me. Thank you for your time

I expect something like this will be implemented in the site update.

Until then, if your browser has a private browsing function try using that, it should still have you logged into Bungie.net when you leave private browsing. That is what I do if I need to use a different WLID anyway.

Or he could download a different browser - It's what I do. When I need to check my Bigpond email (which is run through hotmail), I just open Google Chrome instead of Firefox which I normally use.

When you sign on bungie.net, it uses the similar method of signing on MSN. What it does is that it creates a cache file, containing your information to allow you stay on under that information.

So in this case, if you sign on bungie.net, the cache has the same information as you would normally log on for emails, except you won't have to "re-sign" in the email because there's a cache for it.

Now, there's a risk for that, if you are using a public computers, and you sign on Bungie.net. Without resetting the cache, your email account, as well as you profile account could be greatly jeopardized. To ensure that you are sign out, completely with the cache reset. You either have to "Sign-out", or simply clear your cache by pressing "ctrl + shift + del" in your web browser.

Schools typically don't allow you to install your own software.

I had the same problem so know I just forward my school email to a gmail account so it doesn't conflict.

Sign into each with a different browser.

I'm currently inclined to believe that in the future (perhaps when the site gets overhauled), the WLID sign-in system will be replaced by an user system specific to this site that allows you to link and unlink XBOX Live and PSN accounts. Perhaps others, too - Facebook, Steam, whatever that service is for iOS...

That's speculation, but a lot of things point to it. Bungie's stepping away from single-console development and branching out to multiple platforms. Aerospace projects may often target more mobile and social platforms. Right now it's not easy for a user to create and maintain an individual account here, and WLID will only be a small piece of the puzzle soon when it comes to linking games with the website. It would make sense not to require a WLID, but instead to make it an optional link.

This scenario would handle legacy users (us) relatively well, too. Bungie already requires you to enter an email address in your profile details. This would ease the hypothetical transition nicely. We'd just need an account password, and our accounts would be fully migrated.

I'd love to manage my WLID from my account, instead of my WLID managing my account. It would be a very welcome change.

I know the feeling OP. It's something that actually really frustrates me, and i sincerely hope they do something about it in the update.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

I don't see it as an issue, but in the next site update I'm sure there will at least be alternate ways to sign in, if not a general "enter Email and Password for whatever email you feel like using here" function most sites have.
