Subject: After a ban/warning...

What's up with all the -blam!-ing negativity?
Stop it.

So, I noticed that when you receive a ban/ warning from Disembodied Soul, you can reply to it; like any normal message.

But would it not make more sense if when you pressed reply it was to the Ninja in question? so you could apologise or appeal the ban or whatever.
Or even if their name in the message was linked to their profile.

Just food for thought.

It's been a while since I got banned, doesn't the message have a string of numbers that is the moderator's UID? Maybe that could be linked directly to their profile.

(^}>

That sounds like a good idea.

But I think the last thing the Ninjas would want is to make it easier for people to annoy them with appeals. I suppose a Ninjas opinion is what you need on this.

I don't know about a ban, but I got a warning a few days ago, and that has the web address of the post in question.

Doesn't the ban tell you who banned you, and for what? Never mind, I'm reading the OP again. I guess it's because bans are rarely appealed. Also, people are probably dumb enough to send their hate mail to the Disembodied Soul rather than the mod.

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

I think this is the logic behind having the replies go to the soul (it would probably be hilarious to look through his inbox). That said, I think it would be helpful for someone new to the site who gets banned because they don't really know the rules if it was a little easier to message the banning moderator.

Also, on a similar topic, I think anyone who has a topic locked should be able to see who locked it (either through soul message or somewhere in the thread) for those OPs who don't know why the thread was locked.

From my recent moderation history:
8/20/2010 12:47 PM: True Underdog [995056] issued a 3 day ban...995056 is True Underdog's UID number, maybe link that to the mod's profile?

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

I've had an argument with a ninja through Disembodied Soul before. Should work fine.

On the other hand, every single of the responses back counted as an additional warning, so I stacked up quite a few..

You could just PM the ninja and not reply to Disembodied Soul.

I assumed they'd be the same, but the actual message doesn't have the UID... They should maybe just make the username the link then.

Then again, you are able to see who banned you in the ban message.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

In the past I simply copied their username and found them.

The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

As you waste your breath complaining about life, Someone out there is breathing their last. Appreciate what you have.

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.

Could be a handy feature. Not a big thing but it would be helpful. I can understand why mods may not like the idea though.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”

If needed, I will simply message the moderator mentioned in the message from the soul.

The whole idea is to just make doing that easier.

Why make something easier for people who have already made someone else's time here more difficult? They've already done something wrong (presumably), so they can take the extra time to find the mod's profile and PM him/her.

But isn't the whole purpose of the ban/warning is that it's already a punishment?

@BobBQ: I'll take that as a yes then...

That's a good point. Sure, I guess it would be nice if there was a link to the moderator's profile.

You could just PM the ninja and not reply to Disembodied Soul.

Exactly. If you wanted to message the particular forum moderator who banned or warned you, you could just find the username in your recent moderation history. If it's strictly a Disembodied Soul offense (like the use of alts when you're banned), then just message any forum moderator.
