My projection.

Because seriously, we cannot be pleased. All video gamers want copies of games from their youths, but then they get them and are always angry that they are too similar. If anyone makes a game with changes, it's not close enough. If anyone makes a game in a series that is nothing like the others, they ruined something, blah blah.

This is true of all video game series, lol. I mean, the Silent Hill and Metal Gear fanbases are holyfreakinghayzeus nuts at times about their games.

But what do you think about Halo fans? For the most part, they are more toned down and logical than CoD or MGS fans...they let changes take effect before they really start complaining about things, usually, and they get over it pretty quickly. At least that's my experience.

But the point is, will Halo 4 be a good move in YOUR opinion? Are you willing to give it a chance? Are you going to blame the devs for not making it to your liking?

Discuss. Example, and my own input: For the most part I'm indifferent right now. I didn't really like Reach so I don't really play it. If 4 is more fun (if I get the same feeling I got with 3 and ODST) I'll be happy. Otherwise, I'll possibly just exchange it for something else after a day or two.

Honestly, this is a good cover up for all the idiots who won't know its a cover up .

No, it'll be garbage, which is evident from their plagiarism of H:CE and their unloading a massive dump on Reach.

Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

Change is good.

Not giving each individual the ability to control when those changes take effect...NOT GOOD.

In other words.

If Custom's was given proper treatment. Change all you want, because I will personally adjust it to my liking.
Or, I will personally search for a room that fits my preferences.

If I wanted to play online ...at all, in any capacity. I had to go through matchmaking. Which meant I was playing someone elses game settings, and not my own.

And take one guess who's responsible for the way matchmaking works? You guessed it, the competitive half of the community.

Take one guess who's responsible for this?
"Custom matchmaking is unnecessary and would thin the population for regular matchmaking"

You guessed it. YOU IDIOTS!
In particular I'm pretty sure boom is one of the many responsible for everyone being stuck with the -blam!-iest p2p matchmaking service in the history of gaming.

See now, where Reach went wrong?
I see Halo's matchmaking playlist's as an analogy to that fire that happened in, I think it was a Rhode Island bar. Everyone tried to push through the front door. What is going to happen if you funnel 100's of 1000's of people into a select handful of playlists? The natural order of things falls apart.

It's also the equivalent of matchmaking taking India and Pakistan (Isreal vs Palestine) and telling them to play nice with each other. Not going to happen.

TL;DR

Thin out the population.

There is absolutely no good reason why everyone should be playing the exact same game. Even if it is the same game.
You do not decide what I enjoy playing. I DO!

If you don't like Machmaking, don't play it. That's the whole point of Custom Games. You are also, in fact, saying there shouldn't be an Custom Matchmaking. If that's the case, why are you complaining? You should get off the forums and go to your Halo Waypoint Forums. You are making yourself look like a joke. Thanks.

Thats nice. But, question for you...

How does Halo Reach = Halo 4?

For starters the armour style is completely the same. Chief has that square look/stuck on armour. The DMR and BR is in the same game. A lot of copy/pasting seems to be going on.

And please don't get me started on Chiefs new look because they wanted him to feel like a super hero. That's not their call. So a Nano tech upgraded his armour. It's meant to be able to repair too right? Yet he still has the scuffs on his chest from the re-entry (Halo 2-3). So you can get chunks of armour upgraded yet you can miss out on scuff marks? It seems 343i is making up its own meaning for the word "Canon".

The only hope I'm clinging on to for Halo 4 atm is barebones playlists and the inevitable MLG playlist. I'll give default a try, but I'm not in to the custom class style multiplayer, so I doubt I'll enjoy it.

TheeNocturnal..

You obviously have no idea how to read.

At what point in that thread did it appear that I was against custom matchmaking?

At what point will people like you understand that having custom games limited to a friends only list, is in no way an alternative to what matchmaking provides?

What makes you think that I want to play custom with friends only?

Does the idea not occur to you that I pay for Xbox live to play against OTHER people.

IE. People on my friends list are on MY team, and we take on other randoms....

Customs = I'm stuck playing with the same people till the end of time if I ever want to actually have an influence on what I am playing. OR, I have to add a bunch of randoms to that list who's I'm going to immediately delete from my list after the match is done. Which means I have to go back into matchmaking to find more randoms to play customs against add them to my friends list.. play the game...delete them, find more, play, delete them and so on.

Come on now. Work that brain.... and for gods sake learn to actually read.

BTW, What's the limit on the amount of people a person can have on their friends list? Now compare that to the actuall amount of people available to play against across all of XBox Live. It's the difference between 100's of players to possibly play against to having MILLIONS!

It's funny how you people think that it's necessary to funnel people down into a select handful of playlists to ensure a good population to play against...
But it's perfectly ok to limit the population of your custom games...... DUHR!

Take one guess how many people on my friends list play Halo today? NONE!

You try playing a custom game by yourself and see how it works out.

Let me tell you.
Building the game in such a way, so that you have to have a team to enjoy it..... is bad. Halo's problem is that it caters too much to competitive team play and pretty much screws over anyone who's online by themselves. And this has nothing to do with in game mechanics such as bloom or AA's.

It's all in the way matchmaking is forcing everyone to use it, and then funnels everyone into a handful of pre-defined playlists that weren't even made by the people who play the game. They were made by an out of touch developer who is expected to make gametypes to cater to the millions of different players with millions of different opinions on the way the game should work.

Do you really think having a few people in the office making playlists for the entire community is a good thing? You really think they can keep up with us?

Why then did it take so long for you to get your Bloom updates?

If Halo, from the get go, was built around the functionality that Dedicated servers and server browsers provide.

This place would be a very different landscape today.
A better one too.

When I go to a competitive tournament, I am expected to play on unfamiliar ground.

The very first FFA tournament I ever attended. I was playing Crazy King on levels that I was not accustomed too.

Having no control on who or what your are going to play against....has competitive influences written all over it.

Look at the way matchmaking works.
I come home, want to play CTF on a big open vehicular map and what do I get instead? A bunch of claustraphobic Team Slayer matches instead. And this is all the while picking the ONE and ONLY playlist that has anything even remotely close to what I prefer....buried beneath a pile of -blam!-.
Well, Invasion was actually somewhat of a decent alternative to BTB. But you can't have a playlist survive off of 2 maps that are horribly set-up. Spire speaks for itself, and Boneyard just had a few minor issues that multiply into one major issue.

Let's put it this way.

Compare what I give as input to what you give as input.

You people struggle to type out a single sentence.

Your whole lives revolve around quoting someone and adding an LOL as a response.

Of course you all think I'm the bad one, cause I'm surrounded by idiots. Which is why I will treat you as such.

Honestly, for as much as you people discuss... you could all move over to twitter.

Anyone remember that Twilight episode... Where everyone had a pig face, and the patient was a beautiful girl. Yet all the pig faced people thought she was the ugliest thing they ever saw..... Right.

Or how about that one movie, I forget what's it's called, but everything was grey, and slowely color started coming into the world. And the people with color were getting discriminated against. Right. You are the grey people.

Not to be critical, but that's really your fault. It's your responsibility as a participant to find out what you're playing.

Having no control on who or what your are going to play against....has competitive influences written all over it.I suppose this does have some merit. For a competitive environment to work, everyone has to be equal, so choices are limited. However, in the case of matchmaking, it's really just a technological limitation issue. I'd love to be able to search for a customs lobby for a gametype that I like, instead of hoping for it in matchmaking, but I don't think any FPSs on the xbox have that capability. I'd think it would be more common if it had been successfully done on consoles.

Look at the way matchmaking works.
I come home, want to play CTF on a big open vehicular map and what do I get instead?  A bunch of claustraphobic Team Slayer matches instead.
And that's one of the faults of matchmaking, but it can't really be helped. 343i's not going to make a playlist just for BTB Objective, hardly anyone votes for objective in BTB as is.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein for the Original Xbox, the only other game at the time to take advantage of Live besides Halo 2 (it actually came out BEFORE Halo 2).

Had the ability to let you choose EXACTLY what you wanted to play and gave EVERYONE access to EVERYONE as an opponent to play against.

So...think again.

The only reason you don't see it now..is Because HALO! became the dominate FPS and they decided to use Matchmaking instead of server browsers, and you've all been brainwashed into thinking that it's the only viable solution.

Halo was going to beat Wolfenstein no matter what. Just because of what was going on at the time. Halo had a bigger name...

But as I said, if Halo had observed the way Wolfenstein handled multiplayer... and did that from the start. I doubt anyone would be complaining about Halo today.

And here's where I get to the point of why this community is full of idiots.

You focused all your attention on minor -blam!- such as Bloom/AA's. Instead of the ONLY thing that ever needed to be fixed.
