They should've stopped with the SPARTAN-III Program.
Agreed. The idea of a S-IV project so soon after S-III just seems implausible and unlikely to me, it just seems like a rushed storyline element to me. If S-IVs were mentioned in an upcoming novel I would be ok with it but it just seems like an excuse for the multiplayer side of H4.
Wouldn't be surprised if we hear about S-Vs in the next book.
I'm not totally against the IVs. It was bound to happen. But, it's too soon. The war just ended, so how could they have gotten the tech to make adults Spartans? Aside from that, I feel like with each new wave of Spartans, they get less and less unique.
Maybe Parangosky's onto a brilliant idea.
It'd be chaos for the UNSC if word got out about the Spartans being kids turned into supersoldiers, right? That in turn would be hell for Serin Osman, future leader of ONI. The SPARTAN-IV Program is a fairly good way of covering it over.
The SPARTAN-IVs can legitamately say that they are volunteers, and they will. Therefore the public will probably just accept the general fact, "Spartans are volunteers, like ODSTs". They don't know the difference between the classes of Spartans. So essentially, Parangosky rotates the S-IIIs into the S-IV Program, and that's the dirt covered for the S-III Program. The S-II Program only has 5 remaining active duty members, so they're not really a concern.
The SPARTAN-IV Program effectively doubles as a censorship method.
