Titles track your account age and forum usage. What about your notoriety?

I'm talking "awards" of service and participation in B.net events. This could be an addition to the ever elusive "site update."

Discuss and post your ideas for (hypothetical) Forum Awards!

I think it would be hard to implement. If there's going to be events, you have to make sure it can't be manipulated for the medals, or people can't boost, and that the event runs long enoug for everyone around the world to have a shot at it.
And i can see the elitism now...

What about a system like nameplates (different nameplates to games) next to your title?

If you've spent any time on The Flood at all, you would know that a large number of users LOVE attention. Popularity threads are made almost weekly, and it even has become a bit of a problem in the past.

This sort of thing, while it would be fun, could lead to some other undesirable outcomes. So, I don't think it would work. :/

OT: Since there is already Bungie.me, I voted to keep the title system. Even if Bungie.me wasn't around, I still would have chosen to keep the title system.

Maybe it could be updated and brought back? I'm not saying the title system should be forsaken, merely complemented with awards.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

This is just like Bungie.me.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

People who are superior don't need medals or titles they just know that they are.

The nameplates could be implemented into their new IP.

It would be a nice addition medals for extra stuff, that would bring more activity to the forums regardless of a existing game or not.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

I don't want them nor see a need.

Bungie.net is a website geared toward a developer and their games; it is not a social networking site or a web game site. I'm not saying that people don't form tangible relationships here, it's just that there shouldn't be any tools designed to entertain people to stay or post more.

In summary, if a person has to be rewarded to maintain their activity or patronage, why would you really want to reward them in the first place?

My favorite group.

I think that would give incitement to competition and malcontentedness, and consequently detract from any substantial discussion here.

The great thing about bungie.net isn't posting in the forums, it's showing everyone online that I did.

I understand that implementing an award system would lead to account abuse and users only logging in to rack up on awards. The title system works well for distinguishing a user from the rest, but I am talking about awards given for participation in Bnet events such as contests, game days, and other community activities. I do agree with you that awards should not be given to users based on their post count. Thats why we have titles.

This is the way that I feel as well. Even though forum awards would be cool to have as a feature on Bungie.net instead of Bungie.me, there's not really a point in having them here when we already have the title system.

... I'm going to say no and leave it at that. We already have awards for players who contribute to the community (T-shirts, titles, spotlights, maps being added to games, etc).

The way things are now are fine. I like the titles and it's something nice to have next to your username. I've never tried nor will to increase my title for the sake of it. It's nice and something different that shows what someone is like in the community. No need for change.
