What? This guy was talking about ODST's. I was replying to this: "In a way I don't want there to be a graphical updated version of Halo 2".

Halo CE skulls were made up. And did they spice up gameplay? Make gameplay more interesting?
Pinata, Bandanna, Boom did.
Grunt Funeral was preorder but it did.
Grunt Birthday was just graphical but it did.
The others took away from CE's gameplay (in addition to changing it for the worst), not adding anything and were focused on difficulty: Eye Patch, Recession, Malfunction, Foreign
The classic skulls also took away from CE's gameplay but some of them made gameplay more interesting (Famine, Fog, Black Eye).

Halo 2 had skulls in it to make the game harder not for recreation?Black Eye has 2 levels of overshield.
Envy grants Chief cloaking.
Sputnik should be obvious.
Grunt Birthday affects any AI and the explosion does damage.
Thunderstorm makes every Elite Ultra, making them easier to kill. It also means better friendly AI.
Angry makes AI overheat their guns faster and also affects friendly AI.
Armory also affects friendly AI and can sometimes make it easier to manipulate enemy AI.
Assassins can also affect friendly AI.
Also, H2 SLASO isn't impossible. A few have completed 1 or 2 missions single segment and a few have completed more than 4 missions segmented. Sputnik and Black Eye make a lethal combo and for most Elites, you only need plasma grenades. In other words, H2 SLASO allows you to take the fight to the enemy and bring enemies at a time to your position. For the boss fights, it's just a matter of finding a safe area.
