Subject: All sarcasm and irony aside, is the Bungie.net community elitist?

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

I believe that very few Bungie.net users are actually elitist; most of them are just kidding.

Who the hell do you think I am?

I doubt it. The ones that are probably just hide back in their fancy private groups.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

All sarcasm and irony aside
Does not compute.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Oh don't act like it's your first time, Foman.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

It's been a little over four years that I've been here and I still can't cut through the sarcasm.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

Amongst ourselves(meaning bungie.net member to bungie.net member) they are usually jokes. However Bungie.net as a whole thinks it is far better than the rest of the internet.

i think our ratio of elitists to non-elitists is higher than most other communities.

The Community Forum seems to be pretty elitist

IF any of them are, it would probably be the Exalted Mythic Memebers. Even then though, that's a pretty big if, and it wouldn't even be all of them.

The Flood on the other hand...

And that is frightening.

I never understood that, it's very clearly light grey.

Wouldn't be the elitist people who desire a rank? They clearly want to be distinguished from the rest of the members.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

I doubt it, Mythics that have been on the site long enough to get that title are usually mature enough not to be too cocky.

It'd be silly to even gloat about it anyway. But to try and use this title system to my advantage would be completely unfounded and idiotic. I have no more power, nay-say or authority than any other member here.

The only thing these titles really mean are just a matter of time and commitment. Anyone could become Mythic, even if you get banned a lot. (And by a lot, I don't mean more than five times probably.)
I'm glad you see titles that way. What's the point of elitism on an internet forum anyways?

By the way awesome username.

Are you questioning the decision of the Forum Ninjas to call it white?

Once a Forum Ninja by the name of bobcast took my daughter's virginity, claiming that he was a hands-on gynecologist and that I was a mere serf anyway. That's pretty damn elitist if you ask me.

"There's daggers in men's smiles." - Donalbain, Macbeth, Act II, scene iii

Any website with titles that are 'higher-ranked' than other titles has elitism, though some members flaunt that elitism more than others.

We're not elitist...just because we are a better community for a gaming company than any other community and to the best game developer studio doesn't mean we're elitist, we're just spouting truth not fiction.
