To me, Halo and StarCraft are kinda alike. They both are in the future. They both have three sides of a war. The races in StarCraft match up with the sides in the war of Halo:

Terran:Humans
Protoss:Covenant
Zerg:Flood

And there is an extinct race called the Xel Naga (same as Forerunners) in StarCraft that built temples (have halo's same effect) on some planets that when certain crystals (the index for Halo) are brought to the temples and the temples wipe out all life on the planet, except for the things in the temple. That totally matches up in my opinion. Do you agree?

Although they're both totally different games (Halo = First Person Shooter, Starcraft = Real Time Strategy), they both have sort of the same storyline, races, etc. Coincidence? Probably, probably not.

I'm just saying that's way too alike to be a coincidence unless some people from Blizzard work for Bungie now. maybe they've tried to make a game togather but failed and Bungie used StarCraft's concept to make halo (and halo started out as an RTS, then it went to an FPS)

Actually, every form of a story can be structured to something like 11 storylines that have just been adapted and changed. I could list thousands of movies that are practically exactly the same and nobody notices. This is pretty much the same concept, although starcraft was a groundbreaking game on so many levels, you could relate hundreds of concepts from other games that are also in starcraft. It was really ahead of it's time when it was made.

good point. i can see how ALOT of thing are related with each other. StarCraft is like Alien vs. Predator too. 3 sides of a war. And alot of other things. I didn't think about that. And yes StarCraft was a groundbreaking game. Don't see how there wasn't a sequel.

Well, if they decide to complete Ghost, we'll see if Starcraft has taken a turn for the surreal.

You do have a point about being the same, but there are some 'major-minor' differences. But in the end, I will not bore you all with that list.

marathon 1994
SC 1996.. er maybe 98?
halo 2001

and as the big influenses are sci fi in general, ala aliens, id have to say that that is the biggest thing they have in common. albeit its very similar, its the scifi ideal. something will ruin the galaxy unless you stop it. and there are other aliens. and there have been long dead aliens that somehow make everyhting fit together, but you never see them.

terran- MC-humans- SO
toss- covies- predators- pfhor
zerg- flood- xenomorph- wrknrkingfreakingthingy
xel'naga- forerunners- pilots- jjaro

I think they completely cancelled Ghost... :( Just like they did Warcraft Adventures a long time ago.

It just the human anthropological story.

humans can be like we know them... --> terran/human

humans can be more advanced and serious... --> protoss/covenant

humans can be slaves to their beastial desires --> zerg/flood

and ultimately... humans need an orign myth with wise ancestors --> X'lnaga/Forerunners

it is just a modern critique of who we are, where we are going, and where we have been.

nuff' said.

I'm crying inside. Even though they said something about experimenting with the next-gen consoles, to be honest, the screenshots of when they WERE in production didn't really impress me-- even for the current gen.
I imagined Starcraft to be more gritty and dark... The way everything was modelled looked pretty cartoonish to me. Maybe IF they get something done with it, then it'll look good.

the protoss-covie connection is the most different, tho. covies are a slaver race, brutal in their ideals, where the toss are totally independent.

The Covanent are sometimes referred to as religious zealots, and in starcraft one of the unit types is Zealots. There is also a unit called the Arbitor, and then there is Overmind for the zerg and Gravemind for the flood. And weren't the Protoss and the Terran at war in the beginning but made an alliance to stop the zerg. Kinda sounds like halo...I can't think of anymore...haven't played starcraft in over 2 years...

In a nutshell, yes. There is a lot more story involved with Starcraft, and Halo probably is really simplified.
With Starcraft, you've got your different Protoss tribes, (Haven't played single player for a long, long time), then your whole Dark Templar conflict, and the Terran military factions that aren't particularly narrated about, except for the Sons of Korhal (or was it the Terran Dominion Armada now? Told you. Complicated.) and the UED (Brood War).

Halo mixes and matches what Starcraft was. The Terrans were originally at war with Zerg-- trying to stop infestations. Along come the Protoss fleet, and attack a colony which was infested, in which the Terran living on it didn't know. They thought the Protoss were hostile.

With Halo, the story is pretty straight-forward. Humans. Covenant. Covenant=Crazed Humanity Killers. They are set out to destroy them from the beginning. Big war. The Chief finds Halo. The Flood are introduced. Halo is explained. After a little while, the Covenant splits, and allies with Humans (Or so we hope).
